The sound of "nice shot," "oh yea!" and "oh my god," when playing eight ball in close proximity to some fruit cake Koreans. Oh Jesus!

played more often than at a "Chuck E Cheese" and "Olive Garden", COMBINED...

"Happy, Happy, Birsday"....(raising gun to temple)...

The tiny dog yelping throughout the night and no one does a damn thing to stop it.

The full-out throttle of motorcycles ripping past my apartment at 500am Sunday morning followed by the church choir singing at 530am!

The 600am drunk guy outside the car yelling directions to the drunk driver who is trying to park the car. "Uh Uh Uh, Uh Uh Uh...."

The 700am Saturday morning construction crews and their electric power tools turned on at 705am ON A SATURDAY!

No jackhammers! Wow, you are in a very unique location.
What! You mean there are a couple of brick sidewalks somewhere in Korea? Do you think that is unique to Korea? No, then what's the point?

I find it really sad sometimes when I read this board, how people allow simple, inoffensive things to make them angry. I find the birthday song really endearing, how everyone in the bar claps to wish that person a happy birthday, it's over in less than a minute usually, and you know someone there is having a great evening. That's one of the things I find really cute about Korea. Nobody else in the bar minds; why should you?

The sound I find most irritating in Korea is that howling of the groups of rapid christians who bellow into their microphones in Myeong-dong and Itaewon, and occasionally outside temples. I realize that in their eyes they are trying to save our soles, but I cannot but really quite hate them for their self-riteousness and bloody noise.

Korean girl having an arument with her boyfriend, the long wail that can go up and down and up and up and down again, surely the most intonated single syllable I've ever heard in any language ...

"Opa, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaae!"

And the morning vege man

"Kamjaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa sssssssamnidaaaaaaaaa"

The most annoying linguistic feature of Korean is that phlegm-induced muffled "krghhh krrrghh" sound when they're chuckling at something funny. Sounds like that suction tube in your mouth at the dentist's.

The most annoying sound on k-tv is the brainwashed female audience going in unison, 'ooooohhhhh' at something that's supposed to be impressive.... every ten seconds.

This may be the first and last time I will ever agree with our dearly departed kiwiboy. It was the very first "annoying sound" that came to my mind, and so I voted for it.

However, this was absolutely right on as well:

The traffic-directing whistle-blowing fools who start up at 7am on Saturdays. Phwweeeeep (you may go straight), phhwweeeeeeeeeeep (you must stop), PHHWWWEEEEEEEEEP (left turning traffic please give way) PHHWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP (left turning traffic may now go) PHWEEEEEP (right turning traffic, now it's your turn to give way to the left turning traffic) PHHWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!! (that's to wake up the guy whose trying to sleep 10 metres away - me)

I lived about a kilometre away from Everland, and boy did they like their white-gloved traffic directing.

Another interesting sound I noted was the construction yard conveniently located right next door. They would be inexplicably Dropping Things On Other Things From A Great Height at obscene hours on Sunday mornings.

I got used to the vegetable trucks, and the merrily singing Russian acrobats as they passed under my window. The mournful whimpering of the neighbour's bosintang dogs never got any easier to bear, though.

I am forced to sit between my two Korean coworkers (age 28 and 29) who seem to do nothing but talk to their boyfriends on their cellphones. The conversations seem to always go south and the ladies start saying crap like "gujimal hajimaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!" and do the princess shoulder shake while talking on the phone! What's trully annoying is that while one of them is doing the shoulder shake, the other one is usually doing the baby talk voice that Korean women use with their boyfriends Rolling Eyes Combine the two of these and you have quite possibly the most annoying sound on earth!

So, as soon as I see them take out their phones, I take out my headphones. I've explained it to them like this: when I work I need to concentrate. If you need to talk to me while I'm working, please get my attention by tapping on my desk. Very Happy

I think you forgot the sound of the old korean guy that speaks to you for five minutes with you saying you dont understand, but he just keeps going and going, even as you walk away.

also, at three am: kai, gai, bo! ha ha hahah (or whatever it is for rock paper scissors)

and lastly, that damn birthday song...

The sound of a Korean man clearing his throat as he squares his shoulders, steels his eyes, and strides to meet the oncoming foreigner.

The sound of a Korean man clearing his throat (etc) and spitting.

The slower sound of a Korean man spitting/drooling into a paper cup beside him, full of collected spit and plegmn, in the pcbang. Don't ask me why he does this; is spitting addictive? Is it to go?

The sound of a foreigner writing and thinking seemingly obsessed with spitting and its significance, haha.
