My husband has offers to work at these hakwons and they pay well, almost twice what I make working fulltime, but I can't find any info about any of them. They're all in Kangnam.
Any info would be appreciated, thanks! |

I should've specified I guess, but I am interested in personal experiences, things you've heard, etc. |

I've worked at Hoyah - i've also worked at several other test prep academies in the kangnam area teaching TOEFL, SAT, SSAT, etc.
When I was there, minimum salary was 3 mil won - more with experience.
The scheduling is generally chaotic - the management is abysmal - most teachers do not get block shifts - i.e., work a few hours in the morning, a few hours break in the afternoon, and a few hours in the evenings.
Due to the nature of the academy (test prep), teachers can expect to work much longer during the winter and summer break sessions.
The curriculum consists of copied materials from test prep books, such as Kaplan, Princeton Review, etc. Nothing fancy - that said, teachers are generally free to teach their lessons using given materials as they see fit.
Let me know if you have further questions - you can get back to me at [email protected] |
