Hi,

I recently started working in Korea, and my contract states that there is a possibility of outside teaching. I have been here about 6 weeks now, and have recently started teaching at a community centre(outside of the academy). I haven't been to Japan yet for my visa. Do I need to get permission from immigration to be working at the community centre?

Also, I have just been told that I need to open a new bank account so that the payment from the community classes can be deposited into it, for the directors access. I was told that it is illegal for the director to take the money, but what they asked me to do seems questionable as well.

Any advice would be much appreciated!(constructive advice!!)
Thank you!

You shouldn't be teaching anywhere until you get your work visa. When you do, you'll need special permisson for work at the community center, and each other place the school sends you. If you get legal permission, they'll write something on the backof your ARC card to verify it.

As for the payment- why can't the community center pay it's money into the director's account?. These kinds of things are generally done as a way for the school to avoid paying taxes, and if it comes out, YOU'll be held accountable.
