From 25th we'll (F2 visa holders) be able to work anywhere without involving immigration.
That doesn't mean we are not responsible for paying tax, if that be our aaahh method...or ensuring we ourselves have the correct creditials to do the job.

Source is from Immigration office in Incheon. News given by the supervisor there to wife over the telephone in response to our enquiries..
From the 25th. Magic number for some.

It doesn't mean of course that one can go to private houses and teach, unless one has specific uuuhh certification / authorisation or such from Ed dept or some such to do so. But, I think this means immigration will no longer from the 25th be much concerned about you if you do do that side business and produce your card if requested.

It's the same then as some see F4 and the additional rights garnered with that. But, there will still be limitations which will crop up, I bet.. Bound to be boundaries.

We'll see.

I ask because the funny thing is we were told the same thing over a year ago. The only thing you are not allowed to do on an F visa without permission is work a professional job (teacher, doctor, lawyer etc.) and a bar/entertainment place.

Well, I guess to open a book shop you would have had to register your business somewhere. For teachers however, there is no need to register when you work for somebody else. Previously we had to apply in person at immi and hand over documents, pay a fee annually to work for another person or company, in other words get permission. Now no need. Also, it gives us greater options should we register with regards to working part time. One can register with Education Dept, if so wish, to legally work at private places.

It seems that there are two threads about this topic going on at the same time.

To verify what Cheonmunka said I just had my wife call Immi. in Masan. Yes, it is true that starting Sept. 25 all F-2 visa holders can work any where they want and they don't have to inform immigration. You can change jobs anytime you want and you don't need a letter of release.

Just so you know, I am 90% sure that you will have to notify the local education office if you start working someplace (and when you change). I am pretty sure hagwons do this after they do your immigration stuff and it was always my guess this is why immigration required F-2 holders to get the add on e-2.

My wife and I own a hagwon and a recruiting company, and we've been told the same information by Masan immigration office. I have called back a couple of weeks after being told this to double check and they confirmed it.

I wasn't married when I first came to Korea. I got an E-7 to work at my husband's company. After we got married, they told us to just get a work permit, so we did and never really challenged it. It expired some time ago and I didn't bother renewing it, telling them that I wouldn't be working because of the baby... they didn't tell us not to bother or anything. So I don't know?
