Well, football season is here.

Weekly predictions are being made.

Let's extend the concept. Make a prediction about current events. Pinpoint at least a month and a year. Pick 3.

This is pretty open to interpretation.

I'll go first:

Oil prices hit $80 a barrel: Feb 2006

Investigation of the Valerie Plame case completed: December, 2006

Roe v. Wade is overturned: April 2009

Have at it.

Short or long term.

Just thought it would be interesting.

Those are easy picks except for Row vs Wade which I don't think will be overturned.

By 2009 US troops out of major Iraqi cities and safe in bases in Iraq.

2009 Iraqi army reaches reach military parity with insurgents

Fair enough. You picked 2, do you have a 3rd?

A Republican is elected president in 2008

Chuck Hagel runs as an anti war Republican but he doesn't get the nomination

I have a few generalised predictions- more aptly referred to as possibilities. Dates? hmm just possible guesses. For example I think an earthquake combined with costs of other natural disasters, and the U.S overstretching itself in foreign conflicts, would trigger economic collapse.

1)Air strikes on Iran. early 2006?
http://www.cnn.com/2005/ALLPOLITICS/01/16/hersh.iran/

2)Devastating california earthquake (due for one soon. maybe 2008?
http://www.ktvu.com/news/4975009/detail.html

3)U.S Stock market collapse 2009?

Is a USA Economic Collapse Due?

The US Stock Market Collapse Could Trigger the Biggest Global Recession Since the 1930s

of course I hope other possibe worst case scenarios such as a Dirty nuke on U.S soil, a retaliatory nuke on Iran, the assasination of Bush,- and a few others, do not happen.

Make it more interesting. Pick a particular Republican. I'd bet Hillary will win. But if John McCain beats her I won't cry.

I wish I could predict that the GOP would lose their majority status in 2006 in the House and Senate, but the Dems don't have their act together so there's hardly any guarentee.

Hey Kuros,

On any other thread whatever.

But how can you come in here and criticize Joo's prediction without offering your own?

Three, that would be...

Yup. and biden runs as well, but doesn't get the democrats' nomination.

The good candidates always lose in the primaries. 1992 was the exception to the rule.

Americans reject an increase in the gas tax , and pretend that there is nothing wrong with driving H 2's, you know like there is nothing unhealthy about eating Big Mac's or smoking.

Chavez continues to taunt the US and the US helps him do it by giving him attention.

Someone is far less anti US than No Moo Hyung is elected the next Korean president.

Korea then asks the US again not to cut back on US forces in Korea.

North Korea threatens to break nuclear agreements without more foreign aid.

US moves ahead with space bombers.
