1. location: Seoul , Apgugeong area
2. students: middle~high school students
3. hours: 18:00 ~ 22:00
4. days: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday
5. Pay: 3.5 million won

While I am by no means a NEWBE to teaching with over 15 years at all levels. I have never worked in Korea.
Is the above a fare deal IE the going rate also any info on the area and cost of living would be helpful
Thanks

If it sounds too good to be true...

I'd thoroughly investigate this one.

Are they paying for your airfare? It is a bit high for SAT prep, but I do know of a SAT prep academy that pays W 50,000/hour (they don't pay for your airfare.) Most SAT prep places, to my knowledge, pay anywhere from W 25,000 to 45,000.

I thank you all for your fast replies. I was told that they would send me an e-ticket so yes this deal includes airfare.. That fact that some of you say it is to good to be true does worry me.
I am not one to flaunt my Resume and do so here with a bit of trepidation but as to the wage offer I can tell you that I do hold a PhD and have been a teacher at both the High school and university levels.
Does that make the wage seem more understandable or need I still look into this. I can tell you that I did do some light research into wages and found this offer on the high end. Hence my turning to you my more experience colleges

I think perhaps my dear chappy you are having us on and are perhaps a sock of a recently deposed poster. Either that, or your higher degree wasn't in English and was by chance in microbial intestinal worms of the upper digestive track of the common bovine.

And if you're not, be careful that this isn't a pay-by-the-hour-earn-up-to-3.5mn-a-month deal whereby you in fact earn about 2.0 with no housing.

As far as I know, SAT prep pays higher than regular ESL jobs, particularly if you are particularly qualified for that niche. It sound like a fair enough deal.

However, you may want to consider that you are working weekends in lieu of the weekdays and you may want to ask for a little extra 'weekend pay'.

Are they providing housing?

Best of luck....

Listed conditions are quite good on paper. Read other replies and check into things.

As for working weekends, I'd rather work when most everyone else is out doing crap and then have a couple of days off during the week to take care of business or head off somewhere with less traffic and people. Tues/Thurs isn't so hot for that, though, and I'd only like it if I was single.

SAT pays much higher than market rate for conversational English teaching positions.

Intructors can expect to make a minimum of 3 mil a month (upwards of 9-10 mil a month)

As a general rule Apkujung is always a fraud, I'd say the same about Kangnam, and Chong-ro too.
