Tummy troubles seen in a Korean snack food
Gimbap, rice rolled in seaweed with assorted fillings, may be a popular quick meal or snack for Koreans, but it may not be the healthiest choice.
The Korea Consumer Protection Board said yesterday that gimbap sold at 17 chain restaurants in the Seoul metropolitan area contained bacteria that could cause food poisoning. One restaurant was given a clean bill of health. Jeong Yoon-hee, who heads a team at the board that studies risky food, advised consumers to eat only gimbap that they knew was freshly made.

If you eat rice rolled in seaweed you deserve to get sick. Cool

This might be because most gimbap is hand rolled without gloves. I do think food hygene standards are quite low in Korean generally.

After saying that I do like gimbap and most other korean food so I just put up with an occasional day or two when I can't venture more than 5 metres from a toilet.

Its probably possible to build up a tolerance to the bacteria as well.
