In all seriousness, how can one be less than 100% Canadian?

If you have dual citizenship would you be less than 100% Canadian?

Have I missed something and Canadian in now an ethnicity?

"I AM CANADIAN" , "Canada Rocks" and "100% Canadian" are ALL advertising slogans for beer ( Laughing ), considered among the most successful ad campaigns in the country's history, even been credited with surfacing latent pride, as Canadians are proud yet don't believe in professing it unless it involves beer or hockey (I love hockey but the arrogance of my countrymen over that sport has often been overwhelming). It's not as socially acceptable to do chest thumping there like I've often witnessed in America and Korea.

Yet Canadians revoke their citizenships less than people of any other country. An interesting stat.

Canadians often consider themselves to be proud by default: feel lucky to not be in other countries. This fits in well with the immigration theme and refuge for African Americans before the U.S. Civil War and draft-jumping conscientious objectors during the Vietnam War.

As for marijuana use in B.C., I was born and raised in the province but hadn't even inhaled it second hand until I went to grad school out east and my university professors were toking up with fellow students at a faculty party (no surprise: Philosophy dep't Wink ).

Flag-wavers of any nationality is annoying. I have run into people who have given a laundry list of what their country has accomplished but the truth remains that the only reason why they think their country is the best is simply because they were born there. That's all. Which is understandable, and it's nice to have a sense of pride for your nation. Just don't be a bonehead preaching to other's about it's "greatness."

NFLD is hardly a part or Canada, well, its a bad representation anyway. They all smell like fish.

Swiztzerland is gorgeous, and I'd be way proud to be Swiss.

People always told me to tell the taxi drivers that I'm Canadian, instead of American, said that they'd treat me better, not try to cheat me, etc. But I always told them I was American and never had a bad experience. Americans who lie about their nationality disgust me. I mean, so you may have a problem with the Bush administration, whatever... you ought still to have an allegiance to the citizenry of a your republic and the blessing of the freedom that enables you to choose your governmental leaders. Some people are still throwing tantrums about the outcome of the election. It's seriously like spoiled little children writhing around on the floor, wailing about what they think they should have.

The people who told you that were most likely NOT Americans. Every American knows there is never any problem with saying you are an American, as we do it all the time.

Two sentences that irritate me the worst:

"Oh you are an American, its better if you don't tell people you are an American" and the.. "Oh, well you don't seem like a typical American" said as an intended compliment.

When I hear either one of those two sentences, I realize I've just began a conversation with a 100% stereotype-basing, never-been-anywhere-but-giving-advice (insert whatever else you want) type of person.. and its best to slowly get out of that conversation and find the nearest normal people you can find to warn them there is an idiot in the near vicinity.

Those people don't realize they are the scum that we can't stand meeting - its not the taxi drivers, restaurant owners, bar owners, friendly local on the bus (all of those people treat an American person saying they are an American well).

I met a ton of Albanians when I lived in Greece in the Mid 90s, none of them seemed very proud of the place. They all seemed relieved to be out of the joint and none were keen to go back. On the other hand, all my Greek mates were very proud of their Greekness.
