The number of applicants has doubled?
"A total of 26,569 foreigners from 25 countries registered for the Test of Proficiency in Korean this year, doubling from 17,545 last year. The annual test will be conducted from Sept. 24-25 this year in 62 regions across 25 nations."

I also read this article as it painted a rosey picture about the sweeping populary of the Korean language. However, I let the author know by e-mail that a large number of the test takers are migrant workers who need to exhibit some level of Korean profiency to earn their visas. Nowhere in the article is this mentioned and I'm not exactly sure if this change has taken effect. Perhaps Real Reality has statistics or information that can shed some light on this.

I loved how they said it was because of the "Korean Wave" that they want in there particular country is the reason why they want to learn Korean.. |
