|
|
I'm just wondering if any of the ladies in Seoul would be interested in doing a clothing swap party? I'm starting to clean out my closets for fall, and was thinking that this might be a good idea if enough people were interested. Basically everyone could bring clothes that no longer fit , they just don't like or are tired of. Perhaps people could also bring cosmetic-type things that were a "mistake" purchase etc. so that even if all sizes are not represented, there might still be some goodies everyone could come away with. Add some wine, and it could be a fun evening....
Reply on this thread, or pm if you'd be interested in doing this. I'd be willing to host if there's enough interest.
Let me know..... |

Would be if I hadn't already donated five large bags of clothes a couple months ago. Pretty happy with what I have left. |

I'd be there! Especially if there's wine ....I've been wondering what to do with my extra clothes. I have them in boxes right now because I don't want to toss them. I lost about 20 kilos and had to replace my entire wardrobe. Some of the clothes haven't even been worn because my mom brought me stuff from home just before I dropped weight . I have lots of big sizes if anyone's interested... |

Hmm... sizes is an issue. Anyone else around my size interested in going?
170cms, 58 kgs, 36-28-36. My chest (not the breasts, the ribcage) is kind of big, but otherwise I usually wear the smaller sizes, depending on the manufacturer-- I wear Korean mid-sizes. |

Is this for only women? What about men who wear women's clothing? Veronica has been PM'ing me and wanting me to ask for her/him |

Hi all
I am just waiting a little while to see if there is more interest - the more people who want to participate, the greater variety in sizes, so spread the word to any non davers you may know , and let me know so that we can get an idea of how many....
After that, I will try to work out a time....and will get back to those who pm'd as well. |

My friend sent me this recently........
The Guys' Rules
At last a guy has taken the time to write this all down
Finally, the guys' side of the story.
(I must admit, it's pretty good.)
We always hear "the rules" from the female side.
Now here are the rules from the male side.
These are our rules!
Please note... these are all numbered "1"
ON PURPOSE!
1. Learn to work the toilet seat.
You're a big girl. If it's up, put it down.
We need it up, you need it down.
You don't hear us complaining about you leaving it down.
1. Sunday sports. It's like the full moon or the changing of the tides.
Let it be.
1. Shopping is NOT a sport.
And no, we are never going to think of it that way.
1. Crying is blackmail.
1. Ask for what you want.
Let us be clear on this one:
Subtle hints do not work!
Strong hints do not work!
Obvious hints do not work!
Just say it!
1. Yes and No are perfectly acceptable answers to almost every question.
1. Come to us with a problem only if you want help solving it.
That's what we do.
Sympathy is what your girlfriends are for.
1. A headache that lasts for 17 months is a problem.
See a doctor.
1. Anything we said 6 months ago is inadmissible in an argument.
In fact, all comments become null and void after 7 days.
1. If you won't dress like the Victoria's Secret girls, don't expect us to act like soap opera guys.
1. If you think you're fat, you probably are.
Don't ask us.
1. If something we said can be interpreted two ways and one of the ways makes you sad or angry, we meant the other one.
1. You can either ask us to do something or tell us how you want it done.
Not both.
If you already know best how to do it, just do it yourself.
1. Whenever possible, please say whatever you have to say during commercials.
1. Christopher Columbus did not need directions and neither do we.
1. ALL men see in only 16 colors, like Windows default settings.
Peach, for example, is a fruit, not a color. Pumpkin is also a fruit.
We have no idea what mauve is.
1. If it itches, it will be scratched.
We do that.
1. If we ask what is wrong and you say "nothing," we will act like nothing's wrong.
We know you are lying, but it is just not worth the hassle.
1. If you ask a question you don't want an answer to, expect an answer you don't want to hear.
1. When we have to go somewhere, absolutely anything you wear
is fine...Really.
1. Don't ask us what we're thinking about unless you are prepared to discuss such topics as baseball, the shotgun formation, or monster trucks.
1. You have enough clothes.
1. You have too many shoes.
1. I am in shape. Round is a shape.
1. Thank you for reading this.
Yes, I know, I have to sleep on the couch tonight; but did you know men really don't mind that? It's like camping.
Pass this to as many men as you can -
to give them a laugh.
Pass this to as many women as you can -
to give them a bigger laugh!! |

Well - so far about 6 ladies interested. I am going to post elsewhere and see if we can make it at least 10.
In the meantime, a few questions have come up, and I'm curious about your opinions:
- If someone brings some clothing, but is able to find nothing that fits or that they like, can they then "sell" their clothing?
- How will we determine the order of picking? Should it be kept casual, or should we draw numbers to determine who gets to pick first?
- If a girl wants to come, but doesn't have any clothes to exchange, should she be able to offer to buy some clothes?
- Is it strictly a one-for-one exchange? For example, you bring 3 items and you can take 3 items? What if there's a huge discrepency in value - for example someone brings a rather expensive dress...they may not be content to take a t-shirt in exchange for it...
- a preferred day and time?
I don't mean to complicate things, just want to make sure everyone comes away happy.
Please let me know what you think. Those who have been pm'ing can also answer via pm if you like.
edited to add one more thing: as I've said, I'm happy to host, as I have a fairly central location that's very easy to get to and find, but I do have a cat, ( who will probably just hide out under the bed the whole time ). If anyone has any allergies or discomfort, though we'll have to arrange another location.
Thanks! |

I'm interested. Seems like people can choose if they want $ for what they bring or just give it away. I wouldn't want $ for something that I doesn't fit me and I will end up thowing away. We only need a choosing order if there are several of the same size. I would be happy to bring what I can't wear and take whatever fits me...if I don't find anything, my stuff goes in the garbage.
BTW, that should be a rule from whoever hosts it...if you bring it, you take it out. |

I know I could get some of my more expensive stuff altered, but the hassle of going through translation and fittings, bleah! I would rather trade it for something that fits, or a few bucks for running to Dongdaemun Stadium where money goes far.
I think keeping prices at garage sale levels would be good. A few bucks to try and replace some of the clothing would be nice, or a barter system like clothes for wine, a gift certificate, wine, import food, wine, etc....
If it was something really good we could have a silent auction and write names with bids. We could rock, paper, scissors for stuff. There's lots of ways to figure out how to set it up. I think if we could just decide on a place and a time, then meet, we could work out details. |
