Can anyone confirm the rumour that the Korean government has announced a special public holiday on Thursday, November 17 to celebrate APEC? A former colleague said he'd heard it announced on TV last night. I know it sounds too good to be true, but then again, it would make up for having no more days off (after October 3rd) till January 30. |

Aiiiiiishh... girlfriend told me its only for Busan. Having lived through APEC in Vancouver, its a good thing Busanites (Busaners?, Busanians?) have the day off cause its going to be a traffic gongshow.
Off on a tangent, has anyone heard of any major/minor protests in the works for APEC? |

Sorry, Nasbert - I wasn't meaning to get Seoullites' hopes up! It'll be interesting to see if schools and unis here actually close on that day. (Mine'll no doubt ask us to make up the day, anyway ) |

Yes, if I can make it down there I will be holding a champagne breakfast in support of globalization and free trade. |
