Does anyone out there do phone teaching/counselling for their students at their school as part of their normal working tasks? What amounts of time are involved? Should we agree to phone teach as part of our salary or should it be extra? How should we negotiate payment? By time or per student/call. We have been told it would be five minutes per student once a month. We'd be interested in all your thoughts about phone teaching as we have been asked to do it.

Yeah, read the thread Gopher linked to it. As an aside -- I wouldn't agree to it. As you'll see in the thread, phone English is a hated task by at least 90% of those of us who have done it.

Thanks i read the thread, seems our worst thoughts about P-T are well founded. We have refused to do it and there are only us two foreign teachers so i don't see that he has much choice. However, we have the feeling that the monthly news letter sent out last friday may have already told the parents it was going to start in October. Another example of Hagwon owners 'expecting things to just happen'. '
