400MB RAM
40GB HD
English XP SP2
128MB Video Card
Ethernet Card
16GB of MP3s on HD
17" CRT Monitor
Whats the deal with the above? Will it be a nice little runner???? Basic surfing and Mp3 downloading is all that will be required of it. |

I've done a lot more with a lot less. |

If you start downloading videos as well as audio you'll want to add another hard drive PDQ though.
No optical drive? |

| Optical drive - CD-ROM, CD-writer, CD-rewriter, DVD-ROM, DVD-RAM, etc. Anything with a laser that reads or reads and writes to CD/DVD media. |

Generally, one of:
CD-ROM (reads CDs)
CD-RW (reads and writes CDs)
CD-RW/DVD combo (reads and writes CDs, reads DVDs)
DVD-RW (reads and writes CDs and DVDs) (there are various flavours of this - DVD��RW would be best) |
