I was never associated with him, but this David Kang character has recently been arrested and is now in jail. A lot of people are leaving the country because he placed a lot of people without degrees, and he gave the authorities his list.

Not trying to start another hyper-moralistic thread about teaching illegally. Just passing some info.

Where'd you pick up this info Zenpickle (and Pauly if you are following this)? When did Kang get arrested? I know a couple of people who have had dealings with him.....

NVRS: Does this connect to the story of your co-worker?

No, that would be Denis Kang (one 's', he's French-Canadian).

This David Kang keeps popping up in posts.

If it is the same David Kang, then many people will be happy.

Here are some of the many posts about David Kang.

It seems this recruiter went too far. Recruiters being dishonest to ESL teachers is not a problem for the Korean authorities, but fraud is.

So it seems that a large chunk of the fake diploma/unqualified teacher problem in this country boils down to one lowlife Korean.

Quick, SBS...where are your cameras?!

I'm still anxiously awaiting details here. When was Kang arrested? Are arrests ongoing? How do we know this?

People leaving the country...because they're afraid they're going to get caught? Because immigration is arresting them?

I have two friends who were recruited by David Kang and are now in a holding cell in Busan, what type of treatment do you think they will recieve?
There are a few of us in our group and we have contacted one of our friends families but the other friend we have no contact details for them...
We rang immigration and got the round around, they said that they should be held there for 3-4 days, so does anyonee have any idea what sortv'e situation they are in.
They are nice guys, who made a risky decision by coming here with no degree, not dangerous criminals who murdered and pillaged their way through Korea.

Is this the same David Kang that used to have an office opposite COEX downstairs from kids club?

If it is my sister had all sorts of problems with this character and told me all about him 'making' degrees downstairs in his office. When she was there most of the staff at kids club had fake degrees supplied by him.

This is pretty big news... seems that Kang recruited a LOT of people. Lots of people I know as well. Go to hell, Kang!

My friends parents are really worried, I gave them the contact details for Busan Immigration, but had no idea what to tell them about what type of situation they are in, whether its a prison cell or a room with a bed etc....
They haven't been allowed to ring their parents or anything as of yet, this happened 3.00 yesterday arvo.
