I think I am being screwed. I was asked to show up early to do my open classes they told me not to be late. So I showed up and the deed has been finished a week ago. This week its payday and they told me that because there was to much time waiting they will only pay me for only half. Apparently this never happened last year but this year all the foreigners getting screwed. I worked total 4.5 hours on Thursday and Friday but because I did go home to change I subtracted 1 hour of each day. To be fair it would be 3.5 hours but they still feel like only 2 hours is what I worked. On Saturday I worked from 8am to 3 pm. I decided not to be a *beep* and and subtract an extra hour ( and my lunch hour) from 7 hours down to 5 hours is pretty generous. Still they want to only pay for half.

Am I being unreasonable ?

*rant*
Back home if an employer asks you to show up they will pay no matter what even I have nothing to do. Is it ok to screw some one? What pised my off is that it was done after the fact. I am also afraid that if I take this cut they will try it again and again.

Sorry for your situation, but I'm really confused. After all the religion posts, I really thought someone was trying to change the Old Testament.

This only applies to a job that pays hourly. Salary jobs do not require a person to be paid simply for arriving to do extra work and then not actually working, and your job here is salary.

Welcome to the wonderful world of hogwan lying/cheating and general dishonesty.

The easy way to stop this is to tell them that because you feel they are stealing from you that you will no longer be available to work any overtime classes...so sorry.

Salary schmalary. If they ask you to come in outside the times stated in your contract then they should have to pay you for that time. It really shouldnt matter if you show up but the students dont.

Yet another reason why the hours in your contract need to be stated clearly and concisely!

The law in question strictly applies to jobs where a person is entirely on an hourly wage. It does not apply to contractually set overtime.
