... Korean ladies to play such great golf in the U.S. is closely connected to dexterity, which is also critical to preparing delicious Kimchi, a Korean side dish loved by the people around the world.

We all know that even when you use the same materials for Kimchi, it tastes different depending upon the hands that mix the materials. This is why a so-called hand-taste or rather a typical taste created by the hands is heard frequently in Korea when it comes to preparing foods...

I bookmarked it, so that I can re-read it every time I need a good laugh. Or cry.

What a crock!

I had a discussion with a Korean friend about 6 years ago when Park Se-ri first won a big tournament and the papers here were full of how Korean people had a lower center of gravity because of their short, stubby legs.

My answer was (and is): don't take away from an individual's talent, effort and training. Hard work and personal talent go for a lot.

I think it's insulting to the individuals who have achieved excellence in a field to start coming up with 'genetic' reasons for their achievements. That crap about using their hands is even sillier than most. It's an attempt to share in the accomplishments of talented people. It's kind of like some drunk Canadian falling off his bar stool, saying, "Wow! Wayne Gretzski scored another goal. I must be a superior human being!" Silly.

If it wasn't from a national media source I would have thought this was satire.

I hope that there are some people in Korea who read this kind of stuff and laugh at the silliness and childishness of it all.

Can anyone read Swedish? I was just wondering if they published such nonsense back in the days of Edberg and Borg.

I get really nervy when Koreans go on about their genetics. I see visions of jackboots, cranial measurements and experimenting on the Chinese.

The writer of that piece should never be allowed near a news office again.

I believe it was that genetic scientist, Hwang Woo Suk, who started it all this recent resurgence in the belife of Koreans' genetic superority, when he claimed that his ground breaking cloning research was because he was Korean and used chopsticks (thus increasing his manual dexterity).

Have you ever been to the Independence Museum?

They have this wonderful exhibit that uses phrenology to show how Koreans are mental superior to the other 'races.'

I think Korean women golfers succeed because of.............

..... an inward feeling of wanting to be "recognized". Lets face it, in Korea, the person who wins recognition actually wins status. The drive to be important is almost at a psychotic level. Adler would call it a drive to compensate, for some reason, the Koreans feel insecure about many things, I don't know if it is because of the Korean war when many nations came and helped out, or maybe because of the Japanese occupation. Koreans have an iron will to show the rest of the world that they are somebody, and in their subjective world, to succeed is everything, and will make them a giant, ..........for a while.

Because they have smaller clubs than westerners and feel too insecure to swing in public.

A Japanese "scientist" once claimed that the astoundingly amazing nature of the Japanese language made Japanese women superior to the rest of the ladies in the world when it came to performing fellatio.

Moral of the story: And that's why guys like Japanese women.

...

Oops, sorry. The moral of the story: There are crackpots everywhere you go.

I totally agree with Ya-Ta-Boy. I know an American golf teacher here in Korea. He basically says it is because they train hard. When Birdie Kim was asked this same question after she won the US Women's Open, she said the same thing. They work hard! It is not a gimmick. They are damn good at what they do. I was never interested in golf but started following the LPGA. A Korean won the US Women's Open, the Canadian Women's Open and the British Women's Open. They whip butt! I love them and have nothing sarcastic to pass their way.

I also follow Michelle Wie. She is American but with korean blood running through those veins.

I do find it funny that you do not see the same thing with the men. Well I heard that in the Olympics and Asian Games the ladies take the most gold home.
