Female Students Allowed to Take Period Leave
Under the policy, female students are permitted to take one day off a month when they have their menstrual period. Their absence will be recognized as an official day off along with other leaves regarding health problems or deaths in the family, as long as a report of absence is submitted afterward.
"As women, we have had to endure the pain of menstruation by taking a painkiller every month, even though it is a physical condition that all women suffer," a female student of the council said. "The period leave policy is designed to guarantee the rest required under the physiological condition as a basic human right," she added.

I think it does. I remember reading something about that a long time ago. Bring it up next time your boss wants to dock you a days pay for being sick. |

Office pressure cited for forgoing female workers menstrual leave
According to the Internet job agency Incruit, 70 percent of female employees say they do not use their monthly day off for "menstrual leave." About 1,300 women were polled; only about a quarter said that they used that vacation occasionally. The majority of the women said they felt indirect pressure from bosses and male co-workers not to absent themselves from the office

On the other hand, maybe Korean universities should switch to a system where 90% of the grade isn't based on attendance record... then it wouldn't matter who skipped a day for what reason, as long as they were working hard and learning.
But that's probably a little too radical for Korea. Let's just give the girls an extra personal day every month. (I wonder, are they cumulative?) |

Check EFL-Law. Technically, women are allowed 12 menstrual days a year. |
