Reports: Plot to attack Paris subway, airport
Police arrest 9 in anti-terror sweep after tip off from Algerian authorities
The Associated Press
Updated: 11:59 a.m. ET Sept. 27, 2005
PARIS - Authorities fear that a suspected Islamic terror cell broken up in France was plotting attacks on the Paris subway, an airport and an intelligence agency's headquarters, newspapers said Tuesday.
Police arrested nine people Monday in the sweep, including an Islamic militant previously convicted on terrorism charges and freed from prison two years ago, officials said. |

They antiwar movement doesn't understand the real reason why Al Qaida or groups of similar ideologies fight. |

They really liked Saddam for his practice of murdering popular Islamic religious leaders, and are angry the US removed him from power? |

I don't understand your question but a lot of people in the anti war movment think that if the US just changed its foreign polcy that there would be no problem with Al Qaida. |

You always speak of Al Qaeda as if they are a single centrally driven body with a leader issuing orders, and a single agenda.
Almost anything reported regarding troublesome muslim extremists in the paper or on the television these days has the following words:
"....believed to have links to Al Qaeda."
Before any actual investigation has been made. It's a press buzz word.
France has had troublesome Arab extremists living in it since Osama Bin Laden was still in his crescent print jim-jams. |

Al Qaida and the wannabes have a general agenda , throw the west particularly the US out of the mideast - despite the wishes of many there to the contrary and bring various nations or even regions under their control.

but as of late France has been doing most anything it could do to adjust its foreign policy so it could be popular in that region. |

How would bombing Parisians achieve that? It's local, just as the London bombings were, local kids with an axe to grind and alientation from their environment. These idiots have no more 'alleged links' to Al Qaeda than you or I.

I doubt the very numerous, cash rich and vocal French right-wing movement would allow a journey too far down that road. |

The Al-Qaeda links are tenuous and they obscure the real reason and motivation behind most of these groups, which are strikingly similar. They all ascribe to fundamentalist interpretations of Islam, are determined to set up Shariah governments in muslim states and are prepared to use murder and violence to achieve those ends. They all take inspiration from Jihad ideology and gain justification from the Koran, and from Islamic history. These links are rarely mentioned as they would lead people to start making links between the 'religion of peace' and the brutal violence occuring all over the world, from Nigeria and the Sudan, to Thailand.
In fact, these people constantly tell us the reasons for their Jihad, but we don't seem to listen. They are opposed to 'apostate' regimes in the Middle East, the existence of Israel and increasing Westernisation, whether that be in the form of permissiveness, women's rights or democracy. Yet, despite this clear espousal of their motives and aims, we invent PC excuses like 'poverty' and 'alienation'.
Moreover, the alienation and disenfranchisement 'horse' has been flogged to death. The murderers of London, and New York were not poor, alienated kids but well educated, middle class men inspired by a totalitarian ideology that sanctioned the killing of subhuman 'infidels'. Saying that they were 'alienated' is getting very close to letting them off the hook for their evil crimes. I'm sure Josef Goebbels was a troubled soul also.
No, they may have no connections with Al Qaeda, but they are part of the same global Jihad that sanctions the killing of infidels and gains its justification from the Koran and Hadith. |

The alleged are probably angry about something that France did like the head scarf law. Maybe the want to claim France for their own, like the group Al Qaida inspired Al Majoroun in England wants to claim England.
As the American Klan doesn't accept co - existance , those who follow the ideals of Osama Bin Laden don't accept co-existance.
Al Qaida supporters are the moral equivelent of Klan supporters, the only difference is that they are better funded , more sophisticated and better armed and thus they can act out their political agenda much more easily.
The article did say they did have links to Al Qaida. They would have more info than you or I would have on this.

they wanted the sanctions off Saddam way before the war and a lot of other stuff like support for Syria, being soft on Hezzbollah and friendly to Arafat. |
