I am interested in taking my girlfriend out to dinner next weekend and was wondering what places everyone can recommend. She is Korean, but we agreed that we don't want Korean food. I'm looking for a formal place, in the 70,000-100,000W price range. Thanks

There's an Italian restaurant at the Best Western downtown that's fairly good. ( I forget that the name of it is, but it's on the second floor)

Throw out any ideas relating to the Best Western hotels from North America, this place had white gloved servers, and an ice bucket on a stand for the wine.

I'd recommend Ganga in the Star Tower at Yeoksam Station. Good Indian food, a pleasant setting, and great service. I took my girlfriend there for a birthday lunch last May and we both liked it a lot.

http://korea.wikicities.com/wiki/Restaurants_in_Korea

but do you people post anything up there? NOOOOO!!!!

"no billybrobby, we don't post anything up there. we'd rather post stuff in a thread that will disappear in a few days. we're all big dumb idiots."

This is Korea. The moment you review the restaurant, it will be closed.

The Millenium Seoul Hilton is having a lobster month - a little bit more expensive than what you want to pay, but the French Restaurant, Four Seasons, is the best in town, IMO.

Black Angus near Kangnam Station has the best steak I have ever eaten. Pricey, but on the outer limits of your range.

Bangkok Thai in Itaewon.

La Volpine
(sp?) in Itaewon. Very, very good Italian and nice wines, too. Last time I was there, they had a Cambodian waitress doing an internship and she was charming and friendly, unlike a lot of surly Korean waitresses.

Just had a taste at the food fest, and Petra was damn good Arabian food- damn cheap too! It located by Taco in Itaewon/noksupeong area. 5000 won lunch special of salad, sandwitch, and soda. More expensive meals are available too, but top of the line dinner is 13000 (according to the menu). Cool lads too, speak English fluently.

Nice, but not quite metaphysical enough-
I think the actual act of reviewing the restaurant causes the closure.

Myself and 2 friends of mine went to a reastaurant at a Crowne Plaza Hotel. They had a fantastic bar, complete with different kinds of meat, fish, salads, soups, and yummy--yummy desserts. Maybe try that?

Also, I liked an Indian restaurant in the Itaewon, that's by Hamilton Hotel.

Yep, I agree, Seasons at the Hilton is the best restaurant I've been to in Seoul - and I have been to a lot!

Sorry, O/T, tzechuk, when is the pudding club dinner?

Trust me. This stuff happens all the time. The moment I plan to move back to Canada, the currency I've banked will suddenly lose record value against the Canadian dollar.

Yes, I've heard about that. The Treasury Board has instructed the Canada Border Services agency NOT to allow you entry should you happen to show up at a port of entry- consider yourself forewarned.
