Is Ding Ding Dang a good school to work for. Do any other schools provide lesson plans and tests for different levels like Ding Ding Dang do? Do Ding Ding Dang require teachers to work on Saturdays? Can this be avoided and negotiated so that one does not have to work Saturdays at Ding Ding Dang?

Never worked for them but have known many people who have. There are an older group of schools that've been around for awhile. I'm sure they had their own problems many years ago, just like the whole lot of them. Get as much information from teacher references and compare them with blacklist stuff. I'm sure there is stuff written there because I've read them. If you find some consisancies in what the current teachers and the past teachers are saying, you can conclude to veer away. If you don't however, try it out and let us know how it goes so that we'll be informed to tell the next person who asks the same question.

The chain doesn't matter so much as the individual school does. I have two friends that worked at two different ding ding dangs...one left after 6 months because he hated it, the other finished his contract with little trouble. Check the blacklists, but i wouldn't trust them to much because disgruntled exemployes post on those sites alot with little reason to do so.

Does the school have any other foreign teachers? If so, get their contact info and talk to them.

Check up on the recruter. Ask to talk to other teachers hes hired.

Find out where the school is. Location seems to matter quite alot.

Ask what happened to past foreign teachers.

Other tahn that, its a crap shoot.

Doesn't the Ding ding dang have some biblical reference to the tower of babel or something? I might be way out there in left field, but I could have sworn some Korean told me about this......

Wether DDD is good or not depends on the individual school. Check the blacklists for your specific location.

I've heard a lot of bad things about the DDD chain in general, but know someone who worked for DDD on Jeju and loved it. So, not every school in a large chain is bad. It depends on the director at the particular school you are looking into.

To my knowledge most schools let the teachers create their own lesson plans. (That's been my experience and what I've heard is most common)

Quote:
"Ding Ding Dang" (really pronounced ding ding dong)
is simply the last three syllables of the song, "Are You Sleeping?"

This is correct, though their version of the song is not. Not sure how "ding dang dong" became "ding dong dang".

Also not sure how "it's the same thing" became "it's same same".

Mr. Romantic,
Definitely get a job with Ding Dang Dong. With that on your resume, I imagine many doors will be opened for you. It is a prestigous school and has a reputation of the highest regard. With a few years experience with Ding Ding Dong, you could work for the United Nations, or perhaps get a post at Harvard.

Dude, there are dozen's of Ding Ding Dang Schools in Korea. Your question is useless unless you have a specific location in mind. It's like saying "What are the states like?"....well "which state?" pops into mind.....they are all very different......

Words are the most powerful tool humans possess. To name your school "ding ding dong" is to condemn it to ultimate failure. If it was the name of the best university in the world, I'd still prefer to go to one with a cooler-sounding name.
Mind you I used to work for Kwaks language school, not the best thing on my CV.
