MBC must have done something to anger the gods with their music shows...first the nudie scandel and now this tragic event...
It is all in korean but there is a video but i am sure if you watch the news they will be detailing it
http://www.ytn.co.kr/news/news_view.php?cd=0103&key=200510032001020109

11 people killed and 40 were injured at the venue when they were crushed by a stampede of people.....

Many, many people were there, over 5000 so it must have been crazy

Edit: BBC are on it now for English readers although the death tallies don't match... http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/4304698.stm

It's really sad news. I'll place up the same reply as I did in the other website.

http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/asiapcf/10/03/skorea.stampede.reut/index.html?section=cnn_latest

I read that there was 10,000 at it with 5,000 more outside. It happened about an hour and a half before the show started. Typical Korean behaviour started it all - pushing and pushing trying to get their way until the people in front were injuried and died.

It's on YTN news now. It's showing inside the hospital where the victims are. It's horrible that Korean news can go inside and record it all. Also just a while ago it showed the names who died on the news. Still I can't understand why the news is allowed to do this. Back home the names would never be known until a few days after the accident.

This is very saddening but at the same time not surprising. (witness 19 koreans trying to fit into the same elevators every day in buildings all over korean)

it's a shame.

i don't think this country is going to learn that some of the things it does are just plain *beep**ed unless 90% of it spontaneously combusts or something.

truly sad.

Absolutely - remember the Hillsborough crush in England in 89? 96 people crushed to death...

And looks like it's a regular occurence at soccer matches in Africa

It happens all over the world the difference, at least in England, is we learnt our lesson after our disaster and I dont think anything on the same scale has since Hillsborough.

Koreans need to get past the me first then everyone else mentality.

And don't forget the grand daddy of all concert rush deaths... The Who concert in Cincinnati.

Also, according to the news this was a concert for older audiences. Does this mean it was an ajuma/ajoshi stampede?
