Korea is the first time in life I've not been able to air my clothes outside to dry, and I can't shake the musty smell you get from slow drying in my little enclosed balcony bit in my apartment. Anyone got any tips on how I can make my clothes stay soapaliciously smelling?

You can't open the windows on the balcony or bring the clothes up to the roof? If niether of those is an option, you can buy a product called Febreeze ( it's with the laundry stuff in the supermarkets) and the whole point is to make clothes smell nice.

dont hang your clothes too close together, thats #1 reason for smelly clothes, as its taking too long to dry when its cramped up and starts getting that moldy smell

spread out your clothes, on hangers, on the clothes-horse, over doors etc
it'll dry quicker and your clothes wont smell

make sure to use a lot of fab. softener too

I think peyony might have hit the nail on the head my clothes do dry very close together. My rooms circulation is truely appalling. I have one window, and its impossible to get a decent flow of air through my apartment. As for fab softner I think the machine uses it too early, is it worth me sticking it in later?

if you're one of the lucky people with aircon in your apartment...

crank the *beep* out of the aircon. your clothes will not only dry fresh-smelling, it'll only take about 3 hours. except for jeans and heavier stuff.

if your clothes are sturdy (read- not of korean make) then what i used to do - another quick rinse cycle after with just fab softener- and dont use the recommended amounts in the cap, i use a full cap with a load of laundry

but definitely, with pants and other heavy items, dont hang them on the clothes horse, hang those over doors & chairs, if you've got pant hangers, use them and line up on the outside of your wardrobe etc, - dont overlap, it'll help with creases, your pants dry faster and wont smell

Hey Peppermint is right. She always is in her own goofy way. People have valid questions here. Let's not goof around too much.

Blunder, if you have a balcony, how can you have only one window.. I don't understand. Doesn't the balcony have windows?

What kind of washing machine do you have? Top loading one or front loading? This is important to find out when you should put in the softener.

If you don't have enough room to hang your laundry, it might worth you to put a line up in your bedroom - over your bed or something - and do your laundry early in the morning, so you can have the whole afternoon to hang them dry with plenty of space.

Are you aware that some places do not allow the tenants to control the ondol (or heating)? Some apartment managers control not only the ondol, they also control the heating for the water throughout the year.

If you have A/C, set it to "jae-sib", which is the de-humidifier.

The best thing, though, is a fan. You probably can't buy one now, so ask your employer for one.
