sending by fedex is crazy expensive
for 22lbs, the USPS website says that it will cost $98.90 and arrive in 4-10 days using Airmail Parcel Post
(my experience is that it takes between 5-7 days)
here's a price chart for Airmail Parcel Post- the #'s being weight and price
1 $14.50 16 $75.50 31 $134.00
2 $18.75 17 $79.40 32 $137.90
3 $23.25 18 $83.30 33 $141.80
4 $26.75 19 $87.20 34 $145.70
5 $32.75 20 $91.10 35 $149.60
6 $36.50 21 $95.00 36 $153.50
7 $40.40 22 $98.90 37 $157.40
8 $44.30 23 $102.80 38 $161.30
9 $48.20 24 $106.70 39 $165.20
10 $52.10 25 $110.60 40 $169.10
11 $56.00 26 $114.50 41 $173.00
12 $59.90 27 $118.40 42 $176.90
13 $63.80 28 $122.30 43 $180.80
14 $67.70 29 $126.20 44 $184.70
15 $71.60 30 $130.10

SAL (Surface Air Lifted) is cheaper than Airmail. This means it is flown to the country of destination and then shipped 'slowly' to the final destination. It's a little slower than Airmail, but not that much slower.
For example, from NZ-Korea/Japan, Airmail takes 5-7days and SAL takes 10-14 days... that's also probably because both countries are small and it doesn't take long for the parcel to reach its departure and arrival airports, as well as the fact that there are daily direct flights to/from each country.
If it's available and the parcel isn't urgent, I recommend it. |
