Kermo; you describe your manager as 'adorable', and then you list 8 tactics that she tried to use on you to get something that is NOT hers.
I think I must have a different understanding of the word 'adorable'.

It's remarkable, really, the way she can do all that with a friendly smile on her face, and still act like an ally. I do feel sorry for her (our director seems very snaky to me) and she takes abuse from all sides. I don't necessarily trust her, or want to take her home as a pet, but she's quite charming.

I'm guessing neither xtchr or Kermo ever had a Korean girlfriend. Adorable and conniving aren't mutually exclusive.

No, I haven't, but it's not for lack of trying. Damn you, Yoo Ri, you bewitching creature!

I saw no reference to this as a reason but worth keeping in mind....

There are, as we know, a fair number of foreigners in Korea working without degrees or with forged diplomas.

Your valid diploma is a valuable commodity... can be used to forge docs that are provided to illegal employees or sold to foreigners looking for a "valid" diploma.

That's a big reason I wouldn't let mine go, even for 10 minutes. I've heard of people getting their diplomas back damaged - likely the hogwon was trying to forge some new ones off the valid one.

Grotto, that was my first thought when I read her "I QUIT" thread. In fact, I just looked at the title and thought "whew! that was close!"

Giving him directions of course! Shake it to the left, shake it to the right. Get up, get on down.

Can copies of original diploma can be done here in Korea? I brought my original with me and after reading this thread, I might just go on and have copies made.

If you go to the immigration office they might (I had no problem) give you one certified copy...other people were told no..I guess it depends on who you talk to.
