That's amazing. I wonder why the snake thought it could eat a whole crocodile. |

It's a sensational picture, but they've got some major ecological problems in the Everglades caused by people discarding their pet pythons so that now there are now hundreds - maybe thousands - of those giant "Asian-invader" snakes eating all the other endangered critters... (and I was a Gator's fan when I lived in Gainesville...) |

There are some people out there so totally devoid of humour, that they completely miss the little hints God keeps dropping us that this is all just one giant *beep* ing joke. |

A few years back in South Florida a friend of mine asked if I could watch his snakes for him for a few days while his girlfriend's brother and his wife visited. It seems they were terrified of his snakes and wouldn't be in the same apartment with them. Well, I'm no snake fan either, but I reluctantly agreed (that's just the kind of guy I am). Anyway, there was the big one--a ten-foot albino Burmese python (the yellow one), a six foot male that was very aggressive, another five or six footer, and finally a cute little-four foot ball python. There were too big for cages so after being fed (oh my god--to watch that!), we turned them loose in a bathroom I didn't use in my apartment...soon to be known as "the snake room." The aggressive one freaked me out too much and I had my friend get it the hell out of there within one day. He took it to another buddy of his who was a fellow "snake guy." Originally, I had planned to handle them as taught, but soon I just did quick peeks and photo shoots into the snake room. It was, however, loads of fun to freak out my company!
Anyway, to get to the point--some time later my friend needed to get rid of the snakes and considered letting them go somewhere like the Glades. He didn't however and instead found them a good home at some sort of zoo.
But I just bet that many people in his shoes (as the story on CNN indicates) do just what he nearly did. Cut 'em lose in the swamps...

Hmm, I thought snakes were quite smart. Guess I was wrong. |

The straight bit on the left is the snake then there's a break where the gators feet are. The the bit jutting out on the right is the rest of the snake. |
