Not including the juicy girl as the reason we may like them is obvious. Besides them, what is your least favorite bar in Itaewan and why????

I'm sure there are others, but here's the first few that spring to mind (in no particular order):

UN Bar, International Club, Kings Club = Sleazy, dodgy.

Why not? = Sleazy, filthy, and someone put something in my friend's drink there.

Spy Club/ Lounge = Snobby, boring, expensive.

** JUST MY OPINION**

Worst one I've come across so far was Reggae Pub.

Yes, see I knew there were more. Sweet Caroline's sucks too.

I don't know how these places even make enough money to stay open.

Polly's. I'll admit I'm a fan of the soju kettles, but I HATE being groped and many of the guys there seem spectacularly dense in that they don't seem to understand that if a girl refuses to dance with you, stops talking to you except in monosyllabic responses and then tries hiding behind friends, faking a boyfriend and/or disappearing to the other side of the bar every time you approach her, that's probably a good time to give up.

Actually, that used to be the favorite hangout of English teachers Iteawon...nearly 10 years ago. I remember reading something here years ago about a shady Korean character steeling the business from this Canadian partners by changing the business license in his name without their knowledge.

It was a whole reggae complex, actually. The old reggae pub actually expanded into a semi-juicy bar on the third floor just after Ms. Oh took over - You can still see it on the awnings: Reggae Max.

The new one (opened in the past year?) is nothing like the old one. I think technically there was no Reggae Pub for over five years?

Fond of the memories of the old place. Met my hubby there. Know of at least three other foreign (now married) couples who met there. Of course, at the time there was pretty much only the hill, Seoul Pub, and King Club....

Gecko's opened up within a month of the old Reggae Pub closing down. I still remember sitting in an empty Gecko's on a friday night, thinking to myself: "Yeah, this place should catch on pretty well....."

IMHO, the whole if Itaewon is a dump that needs to be bulldozed and started over again.

(That may apply for the bulk of Seoul, now that I think about it...) Laughing

It's going to happen pretty soon. When the Yongsan garrison moves there are going to be a lot of pricey apartments put in. You've got the Samsung gallery a station over. The national museum is going in. You've got a lot of embassies. You've got a growing clutch of high end international restaurants that are attracting real live Korean people. Once you get rid of the GIs and the army contractors, the whole place is going to be gentrified.

Gecko's is easily the worst bar in Itaewon. It is a pit full of sepo's and is generally a really unpleasant place to drink. They need to put some sort of lighting in there too.
