Define best? I think Im gonna vote for Batman. Hes one of the most interesting and in one universe he kicked Superman's butt. He always figures out a way to solve the problem using his wits. He kinda represents the power of everyday humans, so hes cool.

But I want to make out with Nightcrawler and Quicksilver

im sorry but batman is the WORST superhero as he doesn't even have any powers, causes more problems than he solves, and does not rock colors. hes a bit depressing...

the best superhero, despite who your favorite may be is Superman.

it is obvious for as they said in Unbreakable, he IS a superhero...his alter ego is a human. plus, he has an outfit that gives much attention to the 'supernetherregions' which would probably have killed Lois Lane.

What about Firestorm? I remember reading those comics and found him to be a fascinating superhero. Through a freak experiment at a chemistry lab he and a professor are merged together, the professor is only in his consciousness and therefore mentors him. I remember one issue where some other heroes tried to talk to him and asked him to butt out or something like that and Superman was being a real jerk to him so Firestorm just made a cage of kryptonite around Superman! He was screwed if not for the other members, ah I remember it was Justice League members now. Anyway I never found out how or what happened to Firestorm. A real interesting character.

I hated hated HATED the Kill Bill movies but I did agree with Bill about Superman. It's so interesting to think that he was born super and that Clark Kent is the fake identity, the costume. Also you can't think of Superman without thinking a little about Christopher Reeve's real life heroism.

I think Batman is the best because he's the most human. Batman demonstrates a classic Freudian complex dealing with depression and anger: Freud argued that depression is anger turned towards oneself. We see Batman as a child witness the murder of his parents while he is spared. As a child he doesn't know how to deal with this and begins to suffer from guilt and anger. He runs into the forest (a classic metaphor for turning inward) and falls in a cave (another metaphor for going inward but to a place where anger begins). It is at this point that a bat appears and somehow merges with him. The bat is a foreign monster and represents powerful, destructive anger. From this point on, Batman shall never be able to reveal his true face as he battles with his anger.

What is the difference between Batman and his enemies: Batman's anger is under control as he is able to use it as a force of good, while the Joker, Riddler and all the others have given in to anger and have crossed over to insanity and to the dark side.

This is why Batman is the most human. He has no special powers but his anger.

Actually, Batman is the end-all be-all of superheroes in the DC universe.

As much of a GL fan as I am, Batman would find some way to beat them all.

That's the appeal of Batman. The Bat is DC's staple. No one can beat him.

Of course, I'd take the power ring over the utility belt any day of the week.
