Has anyone gone to bangkok and got the dental work done there? I'm curious as to what the prices were like and the standard of care.

I haven't but my brother, who works and live in Tokyo, has quite often. Nearly everyone in his company, and some ee's from the US Emb. go to BKK for dental work...

everyone talks about how wonderful (and cheap!!!) it is...

I had an exhaustive physical done at Bunrumgrad Hospital, and I couldn't imagine a better standard of care- and the prices are excellent.

I went to BKK Smile Dental, they have a clinic right off the subway. Its a good place. The teeth cleaning wasn't good however. The techs seemed a little lost. The prices were fair. The PI is good but avoid Manila, I have contact with a good place in Cebu. Really, avoid Manila. If you want to go to Europe, Hungary is the hotbed for dental treatment.

I'm trying to make a formula for dental tourism and it looks like this.

1 = low 5 = high

Quality =
Price =
Acutraments =
----------------------
Final =

Manila Dental

Quality = 4
Price = 5
Acutraments = 1
----------------------
Final = 10

I was at this particular place last week.
Been there a few times now.
It's clean, cheap - 700 baht (17 bucks) for a check up and proper cleaning.
English speaking staff, generally no need for an appointment.
They were fine in my opinion.
Ploenchit skytrain stop.

I really disagree about the cleaning. It seemed mild and reserved. They used some fairly unabrasive drill heads on the cleaning machine and it went fast. I went to a dentist in Korea a few weeks after that and they asked me how long it had been since my last cleaning. That clinic in Korea gave a me a bone rattlling cleaning. I actually felt cleaner.

Cleaning by itself is a small matter but its also a "trigger" matter in that it makes me look at other things more closely.

This is a freindly thread and I'm not wont to spoil it but in my previous life, I spent half of my professional time preparing a large hospital for quality of care inspections by JCAHO. This is a good background for evaluating care given outside of that criteria.

Does that mean the price is high, or it gets a high score because the price is low?
