I cannot believe that those *idiots* only now figured out that there needed to be an amendment process in the document. Duuuuuh!!! Were there not Americans involved in hammering this thing out? What the heck? This has all been about there *not* being an amendment process in the document?? Are you *kidding me?*

That is such a no-brainer it's difficult to conceptualize they actually tried to foist an unchanging charter on their people!

Lord help us... we truly are turning into idiots on a global scale.

It's very difficult for those people to make a decision without the threat of death from a maniacal tyrant or Islamic religious leader hanging over their heads.

Oh, please. The US government has been shepherding this process. And rushing it. Maybe they didn't want an amendment process?? Hmm....

Ok, so if the U.S. writes the constitution for them, we are setting up a puppet government, but if we don't, we are a bunch of blathering idiots?

Truthfully, maybe no amendment process is a good thing. You know that every time a new faction is voted into office they will completely re-write the whole damned constitution anyway.

And the first amendment shall be ....

"Amendment II - Right to bear arms.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

This has got to be the most idiotic idea for a thread I've seen on this board for a long time.

Let's see...the "genius" behind this has an obvious hard-on for Bush, hates the U.S. and then proceeds to lambaste the U.S. for not "shepherding" the Iraqi constitution enough to include an amendment process (throwing in a conspiracy theory to boot).

Gosh, and just guess what the reaction would have been had the U.S. insisted on writing this document. That's right, the evil U.S. (and Bush of course) rammed their idea of government down the Iraqis throats. I just love liberals....

No.

Only Americans are allowed that right. Wink

Once again, you're a complete idiot. And this time pliganese (sp?) is off-base with you.

At no point did I say the US *should* shepherd the process. I said they *had* been, so how in the world did an amendment process *not* get included given it is a cornerstone of our constitution?? And, did I say any one person or group had been foolish? No. I said the entire process had been foolish if no amendment process had been included from the start. And, if that had been the hold up all along, why didn't they do that long ago?

My comments in way can be interpreted as making a statement pro or con about the US role in the process, as such. That's an assumption on both your parts that has no merit.

Regarding there being an amendment process: why would any country want a constitution that cannot change and grow?
