Quote:
A book by a Japanese language instructor living in Korea has attracted the ire of Koreans even before publication. The book, tiled "Medicine for Korea's Ills" by Ryoma Nakaoka and subtitled "A country infected with 'Our-Country Disease'" features on the cover an image of President Roh Moo-hyun holding a mirror in the shape of a yin-yang symbol -- a none-too-subtle allusion to the presidents recent plastic surgery.

Whew so Canadian ESL teachers don't have to lie low this month. The Japanese are back to being the target of Korean rage.

Actually, that guy has some good points. But perhaps it won't be long before the book is publicly burnt either in front of the Japanese embassy or at a Kyobo rally.

I just adore the circles of hatred that netizens embark on here. Small, people with expensive PC rooms tabs weighing on their shoulders...

Actually, read recently in I think the Korean Herald about the release of a book by a Dutch guy. Some of his stuff wasn't to flattering either but all healthy though>

About time for some payback after those nasty anti-Japanese/dokdo flicks we have to watch in the movie theaters.

The cartoon they're getting riled up about is nothing like what I saw in the theater.: buck-toothed jappers doing stupid stuff, etc.

Koreans really need to develop some skin. Especially these PC-Banging overly doted-on mama's boys.

Maarten Meijer

I've read this book....pretty lame...a lot of intellectual masturbation...he's very impressed with himself as the title of his book suggests....
If you've read Michael Breens "The Koreans" then you don't need to bother reading this book...much of the same material covered.

Just wait. The Americans will be back in the spotlight in no time. Maybe a GI will run a redlight or something and knock this book off the news for 6 months.

Funny, the article doesn't actually give any examples of Koreans who are angry about the book. As far as we'd know from reading the Chosun Ilbo, the only guy upset about this is the reporter himself.

I know Maarten Meijer personally, and I can tell you that the cover design was the publisher's doing. Although I haven't read it yet, I did have a contributing story in the book, as did some other people in our circle of friends (possibly including SuperHero and the beaver).

Maarten Meijer is as stand up a guy as you'll ever meet and I can't wait to read it!

And no, if ever there was a guy who didn't fit the label

it's him.

Isn't that the typical M.O. for them anyway?

It's been a while since the Chinese have had to keep their head down. Maybe they'll try to re-write Korean history again. Or maybe some foreign investment group will buy Samsung or dare to make a profit...

I still think the Korean Ministry of ScapeGoating needs to put up a web page to let us know over which pot of rage Koreans will be boiling over this moneth.

ROFL! That almost made me choke on my breakfast. Yeah, I can see it.

Who we hate this month:

January -- USA

February -- Japan

March -- USA and Japan

April -- Canada

May -- Girl Scout Troop 546 from Topeka, Kansas

----------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah, I can see it.
