Hello,
This is my first time coming to Korea to teach, and I was wondering if anyone had any experiences with the GnB branch in Sinpung, Seoul? Any information would help.
Also, if I am offered 2 million off the bat, do I have any room to negotiate? I worked teaching ESL one-on-one for 6 months in the States, but I am not certified at all.
Finally, how far away is Pyungchon from the center of Seoul? I had another offer to work there only 4 hours a day, 5 days a week for 1.7-1.8 mil. But I would be living in central Seoul and have to commute everyday.
Thanks for your help,
Rebecca |

I lived in Singpung for about 3 months, maybe a year and a bit ago, and didn't find much to recommend it. It's a fairly new subway station and so not a lot of ammenities nearby. It might have changed, but that's something to look into. The bus system to that area wasn't the greatest either. There are a lot of villas, of which I lived in, and you have to be really careful about the mold. Some of them are really old. My work had to move me because I got so sick. I was fine once I moved to a new place with better air circulation, but I had to wash evey piece of clothing because it reeked of mold. I don't know about the GnB branch, only the area.
I actually live in Pyungchon now (5 min away), and I go into Seoul lots. Depending on where you are, anywhere near the blue Line 4 will take you straight there, and from Isu Station it takes abot 30-35 min. If I take the bus into Seoul, it's a bit faster at about 25 min. And on the bus you usually get to sit down. Much more comfortable. If you need any more information about the area, just PM me. Good luck with your decision! |
