Hi.

So now that the NHL strike nonsense is thoroughly behind everyone, I need to find some way to watch at least a little hockey.

I've heard that the Rocky Mountain Tavern in Itaewon shows games occasionally, and I was wondering if anyone can confirm/clarify this idea. How often? When? Are they regularly scheduled things, or just random occurances from time to time?

The other (perhaps even better) question is this: is there a network available somehow in Korea that will broadcast NHL games. The only one I've looked into is ESPN Star Sports, which seems to be ignoring professional hockey entirely, so that's out. Any others? We don't have any cable/satellite hooked up yet, and we're tentatively in the market. Can anyone make any recommendations? Thanks!

This thread talks about a site called streamTVnow.com

It's a bit tricky to register and set up (not really, though), and it costs 9 Euros for 3 months, but DAMN!

Here's my viewing schedule for October:

october 9. from 00.00 HNIC Doubleheader (CBC) - live
october 12. from 13.00 two games TBD - taped
october 14. from 20.30 Tampa Bay vs Boston - as live
october 15. from 04.30 Tampa Bay vs Boston - repeat
october 16. from 00.00 HNIC Doubleheader (CBC) - live
october 17. from 01.00 Los Angeles vs Columbus - live
october 17. from 01.00 Los Angeles vs Columbus -repeat
october 19. from 12.30 two games TBD - taped
october 20. from 20.30 NY Rangers vs NY Islanders - aslive
october 21. from 20.30 Pittsburgh vs New Jersey - aslive
october 22. from 03.30 NY Rangers vs NY Islanders -repeat
october 22. from 07.30 Pittsburgh vs New Jersey -repeat
october 23. from 00.00 HNIC Doubleheader (CBC) - live
october 24. from 00.00 Chicago vs Minnesota - live
october 24. from 15.00 Chicago vs Minnesota - repeat
october 25. from 00.30 Toronto vs Boston - live
october 25. from 08.00 Toronto vs Boston - repeat
october 25. from 18.30 Chicago vs Minnesota - repeat
october 25. from 20.30 Toronto vs Boston - repeat
october 26. from 01.00 Minnesota vs Vancouver - live
october 26. from 08.00 Minnesota vs Vancouver - repeat
october 26. from 11.30 two games TBD - taped
october 26. from 17.00 Minnesota vs Vancouver - repeat
october 30. from 00.00 HNIC Doubleheader (CBC) - live
october 31. from 01.00 Anaheim vs Phoenix - live
october 31. from 16.30 Anaheim vs Phoenix - repeat

Take a look around on the site, and you'll see more. Don't give up on the registration, either... It just takes a few tries. After a couple hours of effort, I now get to see the Oilers beat the Flames' asses this weekend! Awesome.

(Ah, and nice thread title... That's my team's website url!)

Hey, I had a thread going in "Off topic"

Apparently you can download games on streamtvnow.com

I definitely "bleed blue" and will have to check the site down.

Definitely need it come April when the Leafs once more eliminate the Sens.

That will not happen this year Very Happy They've already won the first game. Does anyone have any information about any bar including the Rocky Mountain Tavern and if they play any of the games?

... and now the buds've lost the second game too, but that just means a better draft pick after we still eliminate the Sens... again.

RMT = Rocky Mountain Tavern, a Canadian bar in Itaewon.

I googled ["Rocky Mountain Tavern" +Itaewon] and found no website for the bar, just commentary, and life-in-Korea blogs. Anybody have some actual info?

Failing that, I'm going there on Saturday to inquire. If I remember, I'll post my findings here.

I'm not a maple leaf's fan... but I can say this... The senators are about as useless as the politcal senators in Canada.

The sens don't have the physical grit to last seven games against the leafs.. nor the blood thirst to get to the finals....

Now the Flames and the Habs... they're tried and tested.

http://www.rockymountaintavern.com/

That's the address to Rocky Mountain Tavern website. It really doesn't have much info, though.

True. The only valuable info it has is RMT's phone number which can be used to find out when the games are going to be on.

I was in there today, and they said because of satelite feeds and inconsistency of friends back home recording games and putting the online, that they can't post any schedule of games, but usually know by Sunday night what they'll have the next couple days.

Rocky Mountain Tavern does have hockey every Saturday and throughout the week. On Saturday, it starts at about 5:30. Unfortunately, its crap that they get from the AFN sports channel, so you'll have to settle for American teams and words of encouragement from the USFK.

For games during the week, you may need to physically go down and ask them when they will be showing hockey. I don't think they post it anywhere on the website.

Live games are on at very inconvenient hours as well.

I like the web better.
