Poll: Americans Want Bush Impeached

Poll: Americans Favor Bush's Impeachment If He Lied about Iraq

By a margin of 50% to 44%, Americans want Congress to consider impeaching President Bush if he lied about the war in Iraq, according to a new poll commissioned by AfterDowningStreet.org, a grassroots coalition that supports a Congressional investigation of President Bush's decision to invade Iraq in 2003.

And I guess his defence would be that he was "misled".

Surprised

I smell blood.

Quote:
Support for Clinton Impeachment Was Much Lower

In August and September of 1998, 16 major polls asked about impeaching President Clinton (http://democrats.com/clinton-impeachment-polls). Only 36% supported hearings to consider impeachment, and only 26% supported actual impeachment and removal. Even so, the impeachment debate dominated the news for months, and the Republican Congress impeached Clinton despite overwhelming public opposition.

igtg, you should change the title to the second one in the link though. Making the title more shocking actually reduces the effect and I almost didn't read the thread because of it. Seriously.

I would support the OP being sent to butt rape prison IF he blew up a bus in New York. What does that tell you?

You, EFLTrainer, are a moron. There. I said it.

I am sick as hell of you completely misreading people's posts and trying to pass off your idiotic "Dumbya" (which is neither original nor funny) routine.

JD was simply poking fun at the twisting of the actual title and question posed by the poll that the OP used. Don't be a tool.

I am not a George Bush fan. But, if someone said, "Hey, Goerge W. Bush said that vitamins are good for you!" You would say, "They are not! Vitamins are terrible for you! If you take vitamins, you are 'blindly following the blind!'"

Get a life.

Is there really any question that Bush (whether he was misled by subordinates or-not - he's supposed to be the leader...) lied about Iraq?
And in political parlance, language is almost never used precisely, and there is invariably a partisan slant given to poll data. Considering that context, and the fact that "Americans" certainly does not denote "all Americans" or even "most Americans" - merely a statistically signicant number of "Americans" - I think the heading is OK as a lead-in (especially for the purposes of this forum - which, of course, is a breeding ground for provacateurs...) I'll wait for his reply. If I misunderstood his intention, so be it. I have no problem with someone saying I misunderstood them. Heck, I'll even say, "My mistake."

Frankly, I think you are full of crap. The OP posted a bit of info from the wide world. It could pretty easily be said it supports a certain agenda some call "liberal."

The jd, responded with an equally partisan response. I responded in kind. Again, if jd wants to post and say he was only joking, fine. But you are not jd, so kindly shut yer yap on the issue.

My Dumbya routine? Really gets to ya, eh? And, for your info, I've ahd at least one person comment that they nearly spit their drink all over their computer the first time they read it. Therefore, you are absolutely incorrect. It IS funny. Maybe not to you, but who cares?

Man, I tell you what... I need to get a towel to clean the piss of the floor.

I can take credit for thinking of it on my own, but I know others also thought of it on their own because I heard it used before I ever used it publicly. It is a fairly obvious derivation, no? Wink

It was me that made the comment. I guess overbearing sarcasm is lost on the oblivious. It wasn't then, nor is it now, funny.

Suggest you learn the proper way to show sarcasm. Either way, like I care what you think of me?

Today's Poll Results from MSNBC ...

Do you believe President Bush's actions justify impeachment?
122,597 responses

Yes, between the secret spying, the deceptions leading to war and more, there is plenty to justify putting him on trial.
85%

No, like any president, he has made a few missteps, but nothing approaching "high crimes and misdemeanors."
5%

No, the man has done absolutely nothing wrong. Impeachment would just be a political lynching.
8%

I don't know.
2%

Spying, the Constitution — and the I-word
2006 will offer up Nixon-era nastiness and a chorus of calls to impeach Bush

Can any of it happen quickly enough to salvage a badly altered future? Maybe there is a small chance of preventing the most precipitous decline of a world power - short of invasion - in history. Not to mention the overall global mess...

This idiot - Hello NSA!! Enjoy the read!!!! - has played perfectly into the only scenario that would get the idiots who voted for him to turn against him: irrefutable prrof that he is as anti-American (read anti-constitution) as anyone on the planet.

I thought the writer made a beautful point in pointing out that the presidential oath includes defending the constitution, which both Bushes have shredded beyond recognition.

Please list the specific impeachable crimes you are alleging and show how W. Bush has committed them.

Nixon's involvement in Watergate, and how this was an impeachable crime, is very clear. "Nixon-era spying" on antiwar dissidents is somewhat accurate, but ultimately misleading, as it was not an impeachable offense. Moreover, the Rockefeller Commission and the Church Committee both found that CIA had not violated its charter and had broken no U.S. laws.

It is also clear, though, that Reagan should have been impeached for the constitutional crisis he provoked over Nicaragua. He defied a Congressional order, and directed others to mislead Congress on a host of issues, including failing to notify the Select Intelligence Committee on his "finding" re: Iranian arms sales.

Clinton's false testimony re: Monica, while I disagree with it, was technically impeachable. He did lie under oath, after all. So, agree with it or not, it is not difficult to understand why he was impeached, even if it was politically-oriented nonsense.

So, in any case, what exactly has W. Bush done that is impeachable?
