Hey lads, I've been in a relationship for the past year and a bit, so I'm out of the dating/clubbing/drinking scene but I'm curious about something.

I was just wondering, in light of all the "anti-English teacher" stuff, if it is still as easy to go out and meet members of the opposite sex as it was when I was last single. Is there still an abundance of women out there really wanting to practice their English and "experience" a waygookin? It used to be that I couldn't really hit a bar or club without someone chatting me up. Is it the same, or have they been scared away by the negative media?

Don't really know why I'm asking, just curious.

I can't believe I used to post crap like this. A year later, and I can already see how much it reaks of insecurity.

D'ere be wisdom in dis d'ere wurds. ..

At the same time, the only other foreigner in the town I work in is definitely the epitome of the waygook loser coming over to score a wife. . .he still thinks its 1979 when he was stationed here last.

In Seoul, I am not sure where the best place is. Thinking weekends or even weekdays. Shinchon/Hongdae may be good. Depends where you go. Itaewon? Several places could be good. Lots of foreigners, and lots of girls who want to meet foreigners in Shinchon/Hongdae and Itaewon.

Outside Seoul, smaller towns, wherever foreigners and local girls mix, any could be good. I think chances are plenty if you are outgoing and just be friendly and say hello to people. There are many nice women in this country. Language could be a barrier, but not always. Just be nice and friendly. If you can say hello to the many pretty girls, many will be responsive.

Shinchon is insane for the sheer number of babes!

It has nothing to do with insecurity. I'm still happily involved in a relationship. I wasn't asking if it would be easy for "me" to score, I was just wondering if the negative press has been scaring away ladies.

I don't see much wisdom in that at all. Sure, you can find easy girls in every country, but being a foreigner makes it that much easier. Every Brit I ever met in a pub in Toronto had it made cuz the girls loved his accent. Similarly, we stand out here and that works to our advantage. I walk into a bar here and everyone notices.

actually, being a foreigner in Korea I find makes it harder, since you can't understand one another and girls are frightened away easier. the Brit you mention can speak English, yes? Anyway, I could score way easier back home with better quality women then what I've had here, save for my wife of course.

I guess we all have our own strengths ... I've never been able to scare away a Korean lass and I've always been able to make enough small talk with them in English/Korean/Konglish to make a night of it.

It's a great pity how some miserable, monstrously foul subhuman has to start saying things like "it reeks of insecurity". How does being a heterosexual male exchanging ideas with others reak of insecurity, for goodness sake?

Anyway, to the OP, I say it's difficult to generalize. Do K-babes fancy me? Goodness, yes. But it's hard to make real progress without communication, unless of course she speaks English (surprisingly rare in Seoul, I find). That's why you gotta learn Korean.

I personally have never seen a place with so many beautiful girls in it than Seoul. I could live here for ever. I find that K-stunners love to dance and also love being winked at. The latter makes them go all girly and giggly, which is always nice. God bless them, that's what I say!
