I dont know it bugs me when there is only one winner..
340 million dollars to one person... OMG!!!
that puts that person in the richest in american list.. becuase he has like
200 million in CASH!!!
wouldnt it be funny if its some 17 year old kid or something..
anyway who ever won it is laying low right now and has just had his or her world turned upside..

I'd buy up large sections of South American rainforest. Also have a game ranch in Botswana perhaps.
A nice villa in Florence. And maybe a nice pad in Amsterdam.

id check into a luxery hotel right away and spend a couple months just planning everything out.. investors, advisors the lot.. once im happy with the investments and interests and figures and all money has been spread out to family and friends..
Ill then take off!
just travel the world living the good life.. mansions, chalets, resorts, yachts, supercars etc..

there is an option you can have 20 million for 20 years..
or you can ask for all the cash once and I think its like 200 they give you from the 340..

don't think winning that much money would make me any happier than I am now.

Think about how you'd deal with family and friends- obviously most people would want to make sure your loved ones never have to work again, but what if my sister broke up with her husband because they were arguing about what to do with the windfall?
Am I going to give my friends money so they can quit work and come travelling with me? Half of them would get pretty messed up on drugs pretty quickly and what if I fall out with one of them, do I cut him off and tell him to go back to his old job?

There have been several interesting studies about lottery winners. Generally they're no happier several years after a big win. Many turn out to be unhappier, having spent their money foolishly or being harassed/stalked by distant family members/friends/strangers for cash.

My high school accounting teacher had what I thought was a great plan. If you won, walk outside, sell your house to the first person you see for $1. Collect your money at the lottery office, do whatever media crap you're required to do, and then disappear with your family.

Back in the mid'80s Canada's 6/49 had its first real mega jackpot. $20 million or something. An older retired couple won. Since there's no tax in Canada on lottery winnings (I think it's generally defined as a "voluntary tax" and it's considered bad form to tax a tax) and all lotteries pay the full lump sum, they got the full amount. Sadly the man died of cancer or something about 5 years later.

well.. I guess it depends on your family..

my family im sure 100 million dollars we could all live a happy life with that money.. no need to hire hit men and be greedy.. I mean if I gave my 21 year old sister 5 million dollar and set up investments for her with advisors etc.. their is no way she can spend it all.. becuase I know her character she is just not like that,. and money wouldnt make her crazy..
my brother the serious businessman type.. again he will be investing it and turning it into more money..
my parents.. haaha my dad might buy a new car hahahaha he is very simple. he will just enjoy more expensive wine than now that he drinks..
my mum will spend alot on a nice house , farm etc..
my relatives..with this kind of money you have to be smart. you feed them!
you dont let them loose in the fridge! it takes work. with that kind of money you will need a office with staff to control everything.. so you can control your relatives..
friends. who are your real friends??? the ones you love right now!
are the ones you help!
you need to know their weaknesses and strong points.. and make sure you try your best to help them with the money.. you set them up with a cash flow .. they make 50K a month its more than enough . of course one might spend it all. they are all different.. you need to worry about that when it comes.. even just back them in businesses and never let them know how much you got.. let them think you only have 1 or 2 million
but I think having parties and drugs, and biatches and crystal that might be the start of the paranoid downfall..

as I said earlier..
I would check into a hotel.. a few months plan everything..
plan it as well as I could.. and then im gone..
move to thailand and just chill..
best thing is move away if you live in a town where you have been your wholelife.. it will cause jealously and problems.. start again.. just live normally so what your bank account as a few more zeros ..

I think if I won that money.. my biggest hurdle will be.. CALMING DOWN
I would have to keep telling myself.. just SLOW DOWN and think!!
I will want to fly firstclass to my friends and party, I will want to fly them all to an island and hire worldclass bands to play etc.. buy mansions etc..
but then I will calm down and think it through..
but I will need to stop myself.. if I can do this.. I will be fine..

Having been a paper dot.com millionaire, I realized why no amount of money seems enough. It all seemed so easy back then.

Hang in there for a couple years at my dot.com and then get a free million dollars. Sounds like a lot but then when you plan what to do with that money, you realize a million doesn't go very far. After you've bought a house, a new car, give some money to your mother... there's not enough left. Not even enough for a comfy retirement.

No problem. This is the internet economy. The stock will split. Now you have $2 million. Okay so you buy a house, a car, etc. and sock away enough to retire at 55. Well, crap. There's still nothing left. That house has a big property tax bill. That Z3 BMW burns a lot of gas and insurance.

But again no problem. The stock splits again and you have $4 million. You can now retire and support your lifestyle but you didn't calculate getting married and having kids. Hrm. Wouldn't it be nice to leave your kids a nice trust fund?

But again no problem. The stock splits again and you have $8 million. Your future kids will now have a comfy life. But wait. What about sweet future grandchildren?

Again, you're figuring more stock splits more money bigger dreams. Pretty soon you're like "crap there's not enough left to have a building at the University of Windsor built with my name on it and endow a chair at the Seattle Symphony. Hrm."

But maybe you're eventually in the Bill Gates league. I think then you have another problem. It goes a bit like this. Remember the Napster days? It got to a point where nearly everyone on the net was using Napster and putting their music collection on line. It became the case that almost any song you EVER wanted could be found on Napster. Music, I would argue, is a need. We need new music. Fulfilling a need is a primary pleasure in life. I found with Napster I came to a point where I managed to download the 735 songs I really wanted in life. After that, my use of Napster stopped being a hunt for songs I wanted but a hunt to find something to want. It started to take me weeks to find a single song to want.

So vast amounts of money can become like that. Eventually you have everything. You spend the rest of your life looking for something to want. And that can suck in a whole new way.

First thing I'd do is feed the baar. What's the most insane amount you would spend for grog? That chateau grange ~ my brother swapped his fvcken boat for a bottle. A magnum of chateau grange. The boat was worth at least 800 bucks. Would you rather have 20 cartons of your favourite beer, or a single fat bottle of the world's finest red wine?????
