we have a lan modem a hub and 2 computers we need to configure.
i had it configur3ed this way and was working for 2 days now we have issues. line from telephone to dsl modem, lan line to hub position 1, from hub ports 3 and 4 to lan card on 2 separate computers. as i said was working well.
now if we both plug the lan cable into the our computers at once the person who pluggged in first drops out..... so frustrating
please help |

Seriously- ditch the hub and get a router. More secure and more importantly for you a better routing of your bandwidth.

Not very expensive either - you can get them for 30,000 to 70,000 won at yongsan. |

point taken re router will investigate further on sat at yong
but until then how do i set it up and how will i set up a router.
do i need more than just standard lan ports on both computers.
please educate the dummy |

It will be easier for you if you just think 'smart hub' when you see 'router'. The hardware requirements are the same, but a router will provide you with a firewall, and it will prevent one computer hogging all the bandwidth (which I believe was what was happening in your hub configuration). |
