Last night I burned the soup for tonight's party (12 self-invited people coming to view a foreigner in his native habitat) while I was on the phone. I just left it on the stove all night, figuring I'd deal with it later. This morning was later. What do you do with a potful of burned soup? I poured it down the toilet. That was a mistake. Expecially since the toilet hadn't been used yet for it's intended purpose.
So off to school early to use the facilities. We only have squatters here at my high school. And I successfully accomplished my mission and with no disaster. I'm proud of that.
Then off to first hour class only to find the schedule had been changed. First hour class has been shifted to sixth hour so Mrs. Lee can have dental surgery this afternoon. However, that screws up my time to run downtown, buy a plunger, drive home and try to unplug the toilet before the party. I can't do it first hour because the toilet plunger shop isn't open yet.
Oh yes. After spending three evenings getting food ready, the Vice Principal said just to order some food and not bother with making any. Good timing, guy. Thanks.
And it's only 9AM. (Should I mention that I'm flying with a slight hang-over from last night's chicken and mushroom soup dinner with the faculty?) |

Actually, I got ajosshied into having this party. Mr. Lee asked himself to supper this week, which was OK because I owe him a dinner from when his wife cooked me a terrific one a few weeks after I got here. Then I was told it wasn't just Mr. Lee and I agreed, thinking it was the 3 or 4 who regularly attend my English Workshop For Teachers Class. It's no problem making spaghetti for 3 or 4 more than it is for 2. It wasn't till I was fully committed that I found out it was 12 or 13.
PS: Chicken and Mushroom Soup: Has anyone else had that? It's boiled chicken with 'song-e' mushrooms...the ones that look like 'man's symbol' and is a stamina food. About 4 inches long. ^^ It's terrific. IMO, much better than . Ask for . The fact that it was free just added to the pleasure. |
