Hello, Tiny Tibbo!
I would present a picture book with a refrain, preferably one which which could be adapted musically.
One such book is Whose Hat? by Margaret Miller:
On every odd-numbered page, the title question is asked while a picture of an occupational hat is shown.
On every even-numbered page, the question is answered.
You can have either individual children give the answer or the whole class give the answer in chorus, whichever way is easier.
In this book, by the same author:
the format is the same, except that occupational tools instead of occupational hats are shown.
There are lots of Korean books which could serve this purpose, too.
Here is one of my favorites:
Never mind if you don't know Korean.
The pattern is very simple.
There are two pictures of each animal.
In the first picture, the animal covers his eyes with his hands.
The caption translates as, "Where is the (dog)(horse)(tiger)?"
In the second picture, the animal covers his eyes while the caption reads,
Try teaching the kids to play the musical passages on the xylophone or keyboard. Betcha they can do it.
If you can't find any of these books, write back.
I have a scanner, so I can send the pictures over to you.
In fact, I have a whole collection of books of this sort.
Let me know if I can be of any further help. |
