Hey there,

I have read plenty of posts about Yonsei, Sogang, Ehwa Universities regarding the Korean Language programs on offer, but as yet have not found any posts that talk about the Korean course at Hanyang Univeristy in Seoul.

If anyone has been, please let me know what it is like, what the main focus is on, and how it compares with other universities. I'd appreciate some facts. The fees are cheaper than the other universities, classes smaller, so what's the catch?

Yeah, I guess the 4 days a week thing isn't so flash.
Mind you, it gives you a day off mid-week.

I'd still like to hear from the some that like it and the some that don't, or any other information anyone can give me would be great.
Is the housing expensive around there? Are there a lot of hagwons or work there to cover expenses while studying?

I was wondering about Hanyang University's Korean courses and I saw this thread. Can anyone comment about Hanyang's courses?

I rarely hear about it. It's always Sogang and some nods for Yonsei.

i did 2 semesters at korea university and a semester at hanyang. hanyang was pretty slack compared to the other program. if you want learning bang for the buck, i would try the other unis. hanyang is good because of the 4 day schedule and cost but i definitely learned less. hanyang had a lot more russian and chinese students, whereas korea uni had a lot more japanese students. korea uni integrated the language students with the regular university students a lot more through extra curicular activities such as music festivals and plays. in the end, i would recommend korea uni cuz i learned a lot more and met more korean and foreign students. another bonus about korea uni is that there is a pretty popular drinking/partying district near the uni that all the students like to go to. it was always convenient to meet up with the other students and unwind. either way, good luck with it.
