I've been wondering what teachers of factory workers think of their job... primarily those who work as the sole English instructor to employees of an industrial facility, like LG or Hyundai. How is it different from hagwon or public school gigs as far as treatment from the employers and relationships with students? I'd love to hear from folks who have or are currently working in such a place..

I would worry about them thinking I suck after the first week or two, then getting rid of me. Or getting tired of me before the contract finished, and getting rid of me. Adults can be darned picky.

While I don't have any experience in Korea, I did teach workers at Ford and Canon in Vietnam. The workers already have to work long hours and are very tired. You will find they are generally unmotivated and there are frequent absences which are related to working times. In general they will not want to be there. They are forced to attend, with the threat of dismissal if they have poor attendance.

In Vietnam if the students did not get a certain percentage they had to pay back the course fee. This lead me to fudging the results.
