Coke to phase out Vanilla Coke in US
| Quote: |
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Coca-Cola Co., the world's largest soft drink maker, said on Friday it would phase out its Vanilla Coke, Vanilla Diet Coke and Diet Coke With Lemon beverages in the United States by end of this year.
Coca-Cola shares were down 1.1 percent in afternoon trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
The announcement came a day after Coca-Cola said it would phase out Vanilla Coke and Vanilla Diet Coke in the United Kingdom early next year. The company said sales have declined.
Coca-Cola added that it plans to introduce Diet Black Cherry Vanilla Coke and Black Cherry Vanilla Coke in the United States in January 2006. |

This is good news. As a Diet Coke addict, I'm thrilled to see them retire that lemon stuff, which always gave me sore throats. Too many stores would only stock the lemon, not the normal. Good riddance.
Hopefully Coca Cola will do the same in other countries. |

My one major character flaw. I love Coke by itself. Rum I find generally inoffensive. Together they make a pungent, sweet, sickly drink that I just can't stomach. The only way I can manage is if it's almost entirely rum with just a hint of Coke. The other way around nauseates me. |

| Black Cherry Vanilla Coke? Who came up with the brilliant idea of releasing a new product by mixing the left over stocks of two of their failed products? I've got an even better idea: Lemon Cherry Vanilla New Coke. |

| I could never figure out why last year (2004) they had Lemon Diet Coke in Hong Kong and Lime Diet Coke in the USA. |

Coke is struggling with the fact that Pepsi products are starting to whomp on them through their diversity, and keeping pace with modern tastes. Coke simply is a struggling giant faltering about before a big collapse.
Now if they were smart.....

We seem to all be finished paying our respects. Though the deceased have left this world they shall remain in our hearts, forever young.
RIP Vanilla Coke, there's a heaven for a G. |
