All I know about it is this:

Title : Korea International Pet Expo 2005 (KOPET2005)
Dates : November 4(Fri) ~ 6(Sun), 2005 (3 days)
Opening hours : 10:00~18:00
Venue : Pacific Hall, COEX, Seoul, Korea

Is there a website for it? Does anyone know anything about it? Has anyone been to one in the past and if so, what was it like? Is this something for which I'd be willing to endure hours on a subway? Are they selling things for pets or are they selling actual animals? If both, is it at all seperated so that one could avoid one section entirely for peace of mind?

I've been to these before. If you come dressed like your pet, they give you lots of neat samples and pet food, all free.

Seriously?? If I had the clothes to do it, I would! (love free stuff) I guess if I dressed her in the "Dokdo is OURS!" dog shirt, we'd also get freebies galore? Very Happy Very Happy Too bad the vet quit carrying them. Sad

Pet Lover, your pet doesn't normally wear a dress or a suit does it? Didn't think so. Just show up in whatever your dog wears -- say a jewelled collar and nothing else. Trust me, they'll give you whatever you want. Hammocks, condos, you simply have to point and it's yours.

um. no, not seriously. but it's worth a try, don't you think?

I'd more seriously consider your suggestion if the weather were quite a bit warmer than it has been lately.

And no, she usually doesn't wear clothes. She prefers to run about in the nude. My other dog likes wearing clothes, but he's quite a bit bigger/heavier and not as easy to tote around on the subway.

Perhaps she and I could wear matching harnesses and leashes? (are you thinking, "yeah, and nothing else!"?)

Wow! It was great! I loved it! I'd go again tomorrow if it wouldn't involve another 5 hour round trip on the subway. I managed to pick up a few things that I would have had to order online normally. If anyone lives near there, has dogs, and likes to use all kinds of brands of dog food, GO THERE! If you are willing to stand in various lines, you could walk away with bags and bags full of samples and freebies. I saw quite a few people struggling under 5+ bags stuffed with samples and freebies.

There were a lot of very, very cheap dog clothes that were incredibly cute. There was also a few booths of very high end dog clothes. There were booths devoted to medical items, to grooming items, and strangely, to massage--not for pets though, just for people. There was even a booth somehow devoted to after your pet dies. It was fantastic. I went all the way around one time with my jaw hanging open, but managed to get a hold of myself and start flinging money around pretty quickly. At some point, I realized that when I asked how much something was, it wasn't to decide whether or not to buy it, it was to be able to fork over the right amount. Embarassed

If your dog likes to socialize, this is the place to take him/her. Dogs of all breeds, sizes, and colors milled around with their owners. There were cats, at least one ferret and one rabbit dressed up like a rabbit. Redundant, but cute. Very Happy There weren't any dogs or cats for sale, but they were selling reptiles, fish, and there was a very stressed out raccoon and mongoose (I think it was a mongoose)...not sure if they were on display or for sale. I saw the biggest husky ever. I saw itty bitty puppies, families of dogs...it was a feast for the eyes. Fabulous. I'll definitely go again next year. Very Happy Very Happy

That particular vendor should be shut down. Who in their right mind takes a bunch of baby birds, young enough that they don't have all their feathers yet, dumps them in a tupperware container full of wood shavings, and leaves them on the front counter for children to pick up and play with?

Who puts a raccoon in a bare wire cage without food and water and encourages people to poke it? And who doesn't realize that if their animals are in a behaviour loop of repeatedly flinging themselves at the bars, they're way too stressed out and need to be removed?

Who stuffs a cage full of half dead budgies, forgets to give them perches, and then doesn't realize that half of them are nearly dead?

Just my little rant for the day...

I'm glad I missed the birds. I had to leave that particular area rather quickly as I was so upset about it. I was careful to avoid it from then on.

Go if you want, but all you'll see will be highstrung women with their lap dogs, half of which will have dyed ears (the dogs, not the women).

Huh. Strange. I was there for at least three hours and didn't see any high strung women and only saw one dog with dyed hair. And, it wasn't the ears....she had rainbow legs and a heart on her back. I admit I giggled. But, I wasn't there to look for the bad in anything...I was there to look for toys and such for my dogs.

Now you tell me. Rolling Eyes I'm always in the market for a high-strung woman. Always in the market.

To play her like a violin? Wink

It seems Hollywoodaction is just citing a stereotype, and hasn't gone to the expo.

As for petlover, come on, tell us more about the cats. Were there just a few kittens in cages in the corner, or what? Tell us cat lovers what we've missed.
