I can't seem to get this to work and it's driving me nuts.
I formatted my hard drive, prior to formatting I've always been able to see Korean text of any program, site etc without any problems. But now, Korean text shows up when it pretty much feels like it. Sometimes it's fine, msn works fine but tons of other sites and my hotmail shows squiggles and crap.
I've been thru the Add languages in Control Panel a million times. Nothing works.
Can anyone here help me out ?
Thanks, |

Control panel-> Regional and Language Settings -> Details -> Make sure you got Korean added
Also check Advanced tab and make sure that and there is a check mark in the Extend Advanced language support to all programs. (This one is really improtant.) |

You need the language bar if you want to be typing away.
Control Panel --> Regional Options --> Regional and Language Options --> Languages --> Details --> Preferences --> Language Bar.
You want to show the language bar on the desktop and (hey, why not, you paid for them) show additional options on the language bar. |

If you're using Internet Explorer, you can force it to use a different encoding by clicking on the toolbar>view>encoding>more>Korean (or whatever language you want). |

Control panel-> Regional and Language Settings -> Advanced -> Language for non-unicode programs
Set this to Korean if you need to install software that is written in Korean. You might have to toggle this occasionally depending on which language of software you intend to install. |

I've done this and some pages still come up as unreadable garbage. Any thoughts? |

The website wasn't set up with the proper encoding. Harass the author and tell him what a useless hack he is. |

Korean web-"masters" seem rather lazy - appalling approach to design/standards; they dont follow conventions, and seem to think that IE is the only browser in existance. Korea is for Koreans.
My gf ended up having to use Korean XP and IE to view all her fav sites
BTW Pangit - pangit means ugly in Tagalog. |
