Honestly, how risky is it to do a winter camp? My contract finishes at the end of December, and I can make an extra 3-4 million won if I stay and extend my E-2 visa for a couple of weeks. But....

I know some camps get busted, so is it just random luck? Also, someone said that my current school could agree to an addendum stating it was okay for me to work another job, then I could do it with no worries...

Any information besides the "You deserve to get caught if you're doing a winter camp" would be appreciated...

thanks

There's no risk as long as Immigration knows you are working at the camp. You will need a visa extension with the camp listed as your place of employment (and permission from your current employer if the period of employment at the camp and your current job overlap at all).

I will also be working at a winter camp. The company told me they would give me paper's for a three month working visa. Is there such a thing or is this a scam? The job is through camp Korea.

Maybe you should apply for a job with Camp Korea? The camp is located in Suwon. I will be there.

Also, if you work at a public school. Do you get paid for the month of January or is it unpaid?????

I applied to one public school and was wondering.

i think you'll find most public schools won't give you permission to work outside.

A 3 month visa is a C4, it's legit but you have to do a visa run to Japan (so who's paying?)

thursdays child, bit if you are not getting paid for those months, then how can it be considered working outside of the school. If you sign a 10 month contract and then have two months off. Why would you need permission from the school to work at a camp?

Because.... you can only be under contract and visa with one employer.. you will need to notify the authorities if you work a camp and you can only fill in the 'bit of paper' if you have been given permision by your school. there's no 'why?' it's just the way!! Or you can find camps that will employ you illegally thus you don't ned permission but they can be dodgy in paying you and if you get caught then it's both jobs gone.
