OK, I'll bite, WTF is NASCAR?

it's like Formula 1 but all of the tracks are the same shape (round).

Cool!

Thanks. Now, Formula 1 is boring so I guess NASCAR is very boring??

Sheee, I think I'd rather watch paint dry.

For the person who asked me why American Football is total balls, I could list several reasons: constant stoppages, big stupid clothes and helmets (if rugby players don't need all that gear, then those big puffs certainly don't), it's impossible to see where the ball is, it's chaotic, has no redeeming features whatsoever, the foot barely touches the ball, unlike in proper football. People who like American so-called football must have a very high tolerance to crushing boredom! Totally dreadful shower.

You know what I just remembered? There was the time I went to a country fair. The "tractor pull" was pretty lame. But much worse was the "manure pitching" competition. Each man was given a pitchfork and a giant pile of dung. About 30-40 feet away was a wooden washtub for each man. The winner was the first one to fill up his washtub with manure, by throwing it across the intervening space. In the home stretch, the losers would try to catch up by abandoning their pitchforks and making dung balls to hurl by hand, that was faster I guess.

Sounds like a cracking sport. 40 feet! Manure!

On the subject of football...perversely, a well-executed dive in the penalty area can almost be a thing of beauty.

The capacity to tolerate a different opinion to our own is something most of us learn in elementary school, Poker Player (plenty of playing - not much poking I suspect). Ever tried reading a book or a newspaper? In a game of what you call Football, there's always a more interesting game going on in the crowd - all the fatties and the uglies competing as to how many tubs of fried chicken they can consume! Very Happy I'd love to see any American Football player take a Keane, Vieira or Gattuso tackle even with all that laughable protective gear on!

Who's Nancy, btw? I know no such person of that nomenclature.

Enough about the gear. Football players were getting killed in the early days and a combination of rule changes and protective equipment knocked that number down considerably. Nothing against rugby, I think it's a really good game, but there's not a whole lot of 200-pound guys who do 40 yards in 4.4 seconds and launch themselves at opposing players.

Its hard to respect the game of soccer(football) because:
1. Hitting the ball with your head is a major part of the game. Human heads were not made to bump things with.
2. Its not right that you can cut both arms off of a player and he is just as good as before.

As for rugby vs. American football. I have nothing against rugby, it seems like a fine game. But there is a reason American footballplayers wear that gear and it isnt because they are less tough. Rugby is all about wrapping the guy up and tackling him. There is no hitting and no down field blocking. Only the guy with the ball is brought down. Rugby players are seldom airborn when catching a pass. Remember those helmets are as much a weapon as they are protection.

american football is a bit slow at times but a very exciting game if you know the rules.
nascar - that is one lame sport, except for the crashes which are awesome. actually, that could be said of all types of car racing.
ice dancing is probably the worst or maybe trampoline gymnastics. of course, lots of sports are fun to play but dreadful to watch - golf, skeet shooting, that winter biathalon where they ski and shoot targets, darts, baseball.....
tennis is the best.

Notice: ALL of the people. There are many who find it dull. It's like an Olympic sport to many. Not good on its own, but when the chance comes to cheer on your country or root against the French, it becomes watchable.

I mean, how far removed from the rest of the world are you if you can claim that football is the worst sport ever invented. I never played football, rugby and cricket were my sports, but...to deny that football is the most popular sport in in the universe is *beep*.

!.

So? Mohammed is the world's most popular name and vanilla is the most popular ice cream flavour. Some people choose things based on merit and style, not by following the lemmings.

Hurts too, but it's better now that the balls aren't solid as a rock with laces though.

nah, you need arms for balance, they'd fall over even more without them.

I reckon the problem with people who don't like footy is that they've never played it so can't recognise the skill involved. Same with most sports really.

Except curling. Curling's crap.

Cricket is lame... Hate that sport, although it's more of a sport than curling or bowling...

Curling and bowling are "games"... Boring as hell to watch, but fun to play...

but that's the ironic thing about the average american: he play tons of soccer. and then he turns 13. and after that, i guess its baseball and heavy petting.

i like playing soccer, I've played soccer on a league for more years than any other sport (ages 9-12). but watching soccer? blech.

i'm not watching any sport where 1-0 is a typical score. except gunfighting.
