After your employer submits all the proper documents to Immigration, it takes about ten days to receive a valid number or "visa issuance letter." Once you have the number, it could take a day or more to get the E2 stamp from a consulate. To be safe, plan on about two weeks at least. |

It took 5 days to get my blue paper (Korea to NZ) and then they issued my visa overnight even though I was told it would take 3 days. |

Some threads on here are now saying that the actual blue paper has been replaced by a number entirely. So you may never see a blue paper. |

How long ago was that? I've been hearing that immigration is taking their time these days double checking EVERYTHING. They are fed up with all the crooks out there with fake degrees. It's my understanding that immigration is calling ALL foreign universities/colleges and double checking that the degree is legit so this slows down the process.
Away with the old immigration and in with the new... they've been way too laxed and shafted for it. Enough is enough they are saying and showing no mercy these days. Warning to anyone out there even thinking about working before the E2 visa is processed: the fine to you is $500 to $3,000 US dollars, deportation (at your expense) and the employer gets a huge fine too. Too many Korean employers have had teachers teaching before the E2 visa is processed and learned they could get away with it in the past.... well look out now.... teachers and schools are being fined a frequently these days. Pass the word out there. |

Ah yes. Scared the crap out of me. They wanted to send me without a blue paper. I've got some weird letter/number combination and no blue paper. My whitey wrangler assures me it's changed now. They do it with computers nowadays! Crafty Koreans! |
