Does anyone work there, or know about it?
Thank-you

| I heard the movie star Moon Gun Young? will study there, but that is just rumor. That is all I know about it. Oh, and I heard it was at or near the top-tier level. |

| When do the universities usually do the hiring? I applied for four jobs. I am wondering how long I should wait before I have to look for a hagwon job? I will be teaching at Camp Korea in January and am looking to line up a job for after the camp is over. |

| Correct me if I'm wrong, SH, but I believe the universities will generally put up ads now, interview in December, and hire soon thereafter. But there are always those schools that narrow it down to a few candidates, hem and haw, then find out that the person they wanted has taken a better job, as have the others on the shortlist. Then they suddenly find themselves desperate to hire someone at the very last minute. I have heard of that happening on at least one or two occasions (last year). These are jobs at lower-level schools, if memory serves. |

| So is it possible to find out if you have been hired by the end of December? Also does anyone have any idea how many people apply to the Uni jobs on here? Is it 10, 100, or 1000? |

Yeah that happens. It also happens because at the last minute a current teacher decides to leave the country.
you'll also find that in the last couple of years less schools are placing ads on the internet and relying more on word of mouth referrals. My current school has not placed an ad anywhere other than on thier web site as far as I know. considering this I would recommend visiting as many university homepages as possible between mid-october and late January when looking for work. |

Don't know about that, but Moon Sori (not quite as well known, but definitely a critically acclaimed actress) studied there (she was my husband's 'nuna') and more importantly, yours truly got married there in 2004. |

I taught there for three years and enjoyed it. There are pros and cons to working at either campus, in Seoul you're closer to nightlife, etc. but in Suwon you're quietly left pretty much alone to do your own thing, wheras in Seoul they're a lot more politics involved. The housing situation is not that great as when they say "below market housing" what it amounts to is
400 000won for a studio apartment (very small) and 600 000 won for a two bedroom version. This is for the Suwon campus, not sure about the Seoul campus.
Speaking about celebrities who studied there, the pitcher (not Park chan ho) for hmm I'm not into baseball at all but it was 4 years ago and this "rookie" pitcher helped the team win the world series I believe. Anyway he studied at the Suwon campus. |

| How much money to you take home? If you are earning 2.1 million won a month, how much do you have left over after pension payments and income tax? |

| հ is a great university. It is in з which has a great nightlife scene that I think it more fun that ȫ. I have been there a few times and my girlfriend went there. Little history lesson. (I think) It is the oldest university in Korea and it was where all the prince's went to study confucianism I think as long as 600 years ago. |

| Another thing to note is that the other campus is in Suwon, so there are two. The Suwon one is prettier in my opinion with lots of trees and grass. But to each his own as yes there is a better night life near the Seoul campus. |

Don't teachers pay taxes only after the first 2 years of working in Korea whilst the only legitimate deductions during this time are for pension contributions?
Just curious, as employers sometimes use the tax name excuse to describe why they are deducting more then they should. |
