Isnt this asking a bit much? Would you bother applying for a position, spending a lot of money to send yet another copy of your sealed transcripts, just based on the mere possibility that you might get an interview?

Yonsei Wongju campus expects the following:

In accordance with new Korean employment legislation, anyone interested in the teaching postions here in Korea must present a sealed transcript of their marks to the Korean immigration. First step to apply for Yonsei University is to immediately ask your university to send a sealed transcript directly to Yonsei University.

1. Resume with contact information
2. Official school transcripts (Any candidate who does not have an official transcript should immediately ask his or her university to send it directly to Yonsei University, considering it usually takes 4-6weeks for the university to send it)
3. Official diploma
4. Proof of employment (work record)
5. Two letters of reference
6. Passport
7. Three passport - size recent photos

Yes, it is. I would think a copy is sufficient until you've been chosen for the interview.

If this turns into a trend, it would make applying for jobs financially burdensome. And swamp university records offices.

No. The school is correct to ask for that. The immigration and the public have made it the school's responsibility to ensure that the teachers are legal. Many teacher have lied in the past about their degrees and qualifications....the schools should ask for those things and you should have them.

I agree it is better to wait for the interview, copies should be sufficient until you are really considered. a little bit of money can add up fast.

It makes no sense sending sealed transcripts to a school/university before you've even had an interview or been offered a job. They could just as easily turn you down and then you find yourself out of pocket for nothing.

I would say this would be OK if immigrations stopped asking for them too. If it is true that schools are now becoming responsible for this task, then Korea CAN mature eventually

Originals for the school and certified copies for immigrations, that could make SOME sense

My take on it is that if you are just interviewing for the job... send them a scanned copy of whatever they ask for through email. Once they offer you the job... and you decide to accept it... than you can send them the official docs.

Yes, e-mail a scan. As an excuse say "e-mail is faster". That way nobody loses face.

Are you should have attended a nice university like mine that does not make you pay to have your transcript sent to someone, even if they are overseas. Now that is a deal!!!

No i disagree. It is time to remove the illegal teachers. Make it hard for them to find cracks to sneak through. The school is the one who hurts if the teacher is illegal so they should be careful.

Ah yes but some universities (like mine) charge $6 for each transcript and if each were to be individually shipped from my university to Korea would be another $15. That's $21/transcript! That's why I got 10 on hand and a copy. Sure, it's in (almost) everybody's best interest to remove the illegal teachers, but they'll only get one of my very valuable sealed transcripts after I am hired. Until then, they can get a scan or copy...

I am glad you like it. Unfortunately, I was told my Mr. Kagluski that it must be changed because it was not appropriate for this site? I have seen far worse than mine, and am at a loss as to why I had to change it?
