I'm going to Singapore next year. So I'm hesitating whether I'll buy one in here, Yongsan or in Singapore. Does anybody can answer me?

Probably cheaper there - and, if it counts for you, the manual will be in more than one language.

Other reasons too, others more tech-savvy than I will be here soon.

I could be looking in the wrong places, but out of curiosity, I looked at a few online stores in singapore selling laptops. They weren't cheaper than here. Costs were similar. I know Thailand was definately 20 to 30 percent cheaper on many low-end models, but apparently, Singapore isn't. Maybe someone can find a better online store than the ones I looked at.

Here is a good price guide for different countries in the region, including Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia.

The warranties are international in Singapore, and you'd get an English-language version of Windows, but the cost of the laptop I'm after is around US$200 higher than in Korea (though the spec is slightly better).

It's far cheaper in the States of course, but I have no way of buying from newegg.

I travel to Singapore quite often and buy most of my electronics stuff there. Able to discuss the deal in english is a big help and generally I have found things to be cheaper.( ipod, bose sound-dock, camera, dvd player, playstation (modded) etc)

Also if you get the right forms filled in by the dealer at purchase time you will have the local GST refunded on leaving the country which can add up on a larger purchase.

If you know what you want a day trip over the border to Malaysia, Johor Bahru might be in order. Seems to be cheaper there than Korea, and likewise will have all the English language software and probably carry an international warranty.
When you arrive back into Singapore you might have to declare the computer and then declare it to customs again when you leave to avoid having to pay additional tax.
