You need a specific reason (work) for staying and you need documents showing what you are going to do.
Then go to your friendly immigration office and get a "VISA extension" paper.
If you are going to work at the same place...no probs. I'e done it in the past. If you want a month of parties and drinking....you'll have to do a Fukoka run. |

Hi I hope someone can help me out here.
My contract/ARC expires Dec 23. This is a friday. I think I will have some issues with getting my pay and plane ticket etc.
If I show up at the airport a few days after my visa has expired what will happen to me?
Ive heard 2 days is OK, Im thinking i will need 3 or 4 days including the weekend.
I reading the above info, are you saying to let the visa/arc expire and then get some kind of extension. Or going before it expires and extending?
By the way the Korean embassy in Toronto is telling me that it is impossible to extend my visa in anyway, this sounds like horsesh.it to me. |

If you want to EXTEND your E2 visa, it can be done.
You simply take your passport. ARC, contract extension and business registration to the immigration office. Fill in the form and pay the 30,000 won fee. It will be extended to the end-date on your contract extension.
This allows you to continue to work for an additional month (or however long you agree with your boss - up to 1 additional year). |

Thanks for that.
But what about in the situation I'm in.
I want to stay longer. Not to work. Only for one week.
I would rather do this let the visa expire and then extend it (as Im seeing above) than extend the visa. I guess I cant extend the visa without a contract extension.
I really want to just overstay the visa and go home. But not if Im gonna get a huge fine or jail time etc.
Anyone ever done this or know the penalties? |
